removing and welding where the solenoid valve was, mostly for single turbo set up, looks much cleaner underneath and more space for airflow

That is the way I do them also , cut off the extra metal and weld up the holes .If you move the coils to the finder then the only thing under the manifold will be the injectors and wiring .I do have the throttle cable run under there for a cleaner look on top .

Looks great. You MUST be a perfectionist though, since you even polished the underside. Or maybe it just shows alot more with a single?

Isn't the last hole still left for the air intake sensor. If so, a couple of people I talked with recommended relocating it to some place where it does not get heat soaked when the car sits. Since you said you are going single turbo, move it to somewhere on the bottom of the air pipes leading to the intake.

I use the air intake sensor hole to hold the bracket that holds the throttle cable on my car .The Air intake sensor is in the greddy elbow ,but I leave the hole incase I want the sensor back in the stock place for water injection .If you do this cutting and welding correctly the manifold will flow better, along with all the other porting and hole plugging .

The UIM from Japan doesn't have that solenoid and is cast with it going in a smooth curve inside and out. Looking through the double throttle inlet, when you weld up the hole, does it completely fill the cast shaft that is normally there?

I sand it all close to the hole, and then fill the hole shut "fill the rest of the hole" and the double throttle is removed

My bottom curve is smooth as well and the double throttle web is gone and the holes are pluged and smooth .I also pluged the vacuum nipples on the rear , large one for the brake booster and the two small ones , to clean up that area .The four nipples on the front side are gone as well with the plugs smoothed on the inside . All plugs are welded not screws . Good job to FJDRX7 ,this work takes some time and the improvement is well worth the labor .Good skill to you .
