It's been a while since I did the install so I'll see if I can remember. I do remember there was grinding needed for the upper mounts to fit. The main concern is if you have A/C and P/S in the car. Those pieces under the radiator need to get lowered to fit the radiator in place. I made some temporary spacers for them but will be going back and using something more permanent this winter.

It's not really that bad, but for people just looking for a drop in radiator it can be a pain. Also, I installed the Widefoot Sway Bar mounts at the same time. This allowed some extra room as well which may make the install tighter when using the stock sway bar mounts (for the lower radiator rest points).

Ordered my CSF #2 (middle one - all alum 1 1/4) from radiatorworld.com Monday morning and it came Tuesday. Very fast! Planning to R&R rad, hoses, AST this weekend. BUTTTTTT.....As much as I've read about these rads on here, and as much as they have been recommended, my first impression is one of disappointment.

No one has mentioned that the workmanship is less than perfect. Some welds are messy. Brackets look almost "jimmy-rigged". More than a few sections of louvres are mashed. Some rows don't go flush to the end tank. It surely isn't a work of art, by any means. From the pictures I've seen of Fluidyne and Koyo rads, they look very well put together with high quality control. I know, I know......I got what I paid for.

I guess it should still work fine and no one can really see it once it's installed, but I didn't expect to see what I got. I bought in to the anti-name-brand hoopla. How bad can a non-name brand be right? Well, I wouldn't say it's bad.....but it is .....errrrrrr. So I'm considering having them send me another one, or getting a regular Koyo from ebay. There goes my weekend plans if I did that though.

Take into account I have no means of direct comparison, as I've never seen any other radiator in person....but I wanted to put out there another side to the opinions of these radiators.

I'd get another one if the leading fins are mashed. The trailing side fins don't matter as much. Mine was perfect. The only thing that looked ugly on mine was the fan mounts, but they fit the fan unit perfectly... but I didn't think I was in CNC price range with a $200 + free shipping radiator.

Same here. Mine was fine sans the upper mounts. They were a little flimsy but nothing to make a huge deal over.

Update. Customer service said that louvres are not a warrantable item so I had to deal with it. Bent them all back and I was ready for the install. BUT, the unit would not fit!! It was off by mere millimeters and would not go in!! This, though, was covered and they sent me a new one. The workmanship of the new one is far superior to the old one. The welds are cleaner and the louvres are perfect. I measured across from bracket to bracket and it's 1/4 inch less than the imperfect one. Now this is the radiator I expected to see the first time around. I'm a radiatorworld fan again! (Let's hope it DOES fit though.)

I haven't hit the track yet with the current setup. IMO street temps are a little worthless. You can read about someone who has tracked the radiator:

Dont purchase a Mishimoto radiator right now from any supplier. We are working with them on fixing some of the issues with the radiator like the missing upper mounts and lack of AST nipple. If you do get one you wont be able to mount it in the stock location.

Finished the rad, ast, and 5 front (easy) hose install and drove it yesterday for the first time. Only took two trials of burping too...didn't need the Lisle funnel after all. The AutoZone pressure tester won't fit though. (Anyone know where I can get an adapter?) I'm very curious to know if it holds pressure. I had to add coolant to the reservoir every month before the new one. I want this to take care of the issue - before I replace the rest of the hoses. I got new caps as well. No add coolant light and everything seems good so far. Sorry about your radiator TypeFD...makes me more glad I proactively upgraded mine.

No temps yet as the gauges are going in next weekend. I went with ProSport and in the process of painting the bezels black. My stock water temp needle seems a little lower than usual though - probably meaningless. I can't wait to get some real readings. The top mounts were a bit smaller this time around, but nothing that can't be handled with some bending.

Bottom line: I paid half of what I would have with Fluidyne and am pleased so far. Will report temps when available.

Mahjik, thanks for the link. A good writeup and there is a link to a thread of another install in there too. Well done.

For those who are considering purchasing the thicker (Race) rad, I came upon in the other thread something Mahjik said I thought was a good point to bring up here as well:

"Lastly, if you got this radiator just to drive around the street; chances are you are either

a) not going to see any cooling improvement
b) probably run hotter in stop and go traffic

The larger radiators are more effective when the car is constantly moving (i.e. for road racing)."

I'd have to agree with Mahjik on this one. So consider this before making a purchase.

Zoolander - those prosport gauges are pretty awesome. I located my probe on the upper line under the airbox to read water temps just before they hit the rad.

Prosport customer service is pretty awesome too.

Just wanted to let everyone know, I spoke with RadiatorWorld about cooling efficiency on medium vs race radiators and basically, they said that there is definitely a factor to consider which is the CFM rating on our fans - they must be strong enough to pull air through. Anyone has it handy btw? There should be a label on the fans.

Additionally, I spoke to RadiatorWorld about any group discounts that they may be able to offer, which they said they'll be able to offer ~$225 on the all alum (mid) version and ~$265-275 on the Race version if we got 10 people. Discounts may be more or less depending on when the order is placed.

They said their margins are pretty narrow but they'll do their best to bring the price down.

What I meant was the Fluidyne, in my opinion, is extremely easy to install. I didn't have to cut or modify anything. Additionally, I had absolutely no cooling problems with this radiator as well.

Yep, that's part of what I was referring to in that quote you found. The fans aren't an issue when the car is moving. However with a larger radiator, in stop and go traffic the fans may not be able to pull enough air through the radiator. This can lead to increased temperatures in stop and go traffic compares to a smaller radiator. People just need to be smart and pick the right part for the right application.

Not for rotary, but i was looking at the mishimoto Radiators they make for the 7m supras, and it looked like junk.

Nothing fitted right, and the brackets were in the wrong place.......

Spend the money, get a Koyo, or a decent radiator that fits.

Once Mishimoto corrects the problems with the radiator it will be a lot better deal over a Koyo and especially the Fluidyne which is overpriced.

Oh, another thing on the radiator world radiators is to replace the drain plug seal with a tight, fat GM fuel injector o-ring or something. The flat rubber seal that mine came with was rubbish.
