midpipe/catback quesiton

for those of you who have resonated midpipes/midpipes w/ mufflers welded in, did you ever think/attempt to run straight piping from the midpipe back? esentially running with only ONE muffler instead of a second in the stock location? How does it sound?

I would think this would transfer the weight of the muffler from the back of the car to the middle, and also having esentially a 4 1/2 foot tailpipe should make for a pretty nice exaust note.

any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.
