The idiot mechanic thought 110 C during a 68 degree drive at 9 AM was normal. He also thought that meant 220 F!!!

I called rick and he told me what to do!

Note to self: Take car to rick from now on.

exactly what i was saying. in different words. you turned on not only the fans earlier than the signal from the temp sensor says, but you also are letting heat out of the system via the vents/core. so actualy nothing has been "fixed" it has been "patched up".
this would still leave me to believe the signal from that sensor, or the sensor itself is faulty. but what do i know.
johnchabin- i dont think he still has told us what the problem was. as far as i can tell, the fan relay is working properly, he just tricked it.
hope you figure out your actual problem. i have tried to give my input, but nobody sees what i am saying. good luck with it.

yeah, it seems you have only patched your problem, your temps are way too high still. Also when your mechanic changed the coolant, did they drain from the engine block as well? b/c you wont get all of the coolant out by draining the radiator itself.

I think rxrotary is right. You found a patch, but haven't fixed the problem.

You're forcing the fans on, rather than the control system doing it for you.

I don't have one, but I thought you could set at what temperature the fans come on with the PFC... Is it set too high?

i thought about that too, but this suddently happened and he's had the pfc for a while now, unless there's some setting he may have accidently set.

electronics can be funny like that.
i am willing to bet money. but people on here who post questions with things like "$100 to who ever figures it out" donsent pay anyway. i think i am owed $300 so far...
btw, your welcome to all those who i figured out your $100 problems.

ya know what...go ask Rikki. he is always praises himself about how much he helps everyone. go see www.dontbearikki.com he has the answers for everything.
he aparently also has the answers to save his *** from being banned, like putting blame on people he KNOWS are not at fault. he just doesnt like them cause they tell him to stop with the PFS **** already because it is old.

sorry to everyone. just had to get that out.

rxrotary, calm down. Just take a break man. I'm in agreemnet on the sensor thing. That seems like a prime candidate.
And for future reference, when I had a $100 thread, I payed the person who lead me to my problem. :P
