what im wondering about is why arent they including tom McCabe the rotary doc who started mazdatrix and beat racing beat. Mandeville knows of him, and Jim mederer fears him. Tom use to beat mederers brown 3 you see in there racing beat catalog with just a bridgeport. thats why mederer fears him cuz he knows tom can build a better motor and will never say hi when tom sees him.

I agree. With cars like the new Z06 and the next supercharged cobra on the horizon, Mazda needs an engine like this to keep up with the competition. With the engineering/development of this engine already underway, it's only a matter of time Mazda begins the process of incorporating the 3 rotor Renesis into a high performance production sports car. I feel Mazda is just testing the waters for this engines capabilities because I don't think Mazda will build a 3 rotor Renesis just for racing purposes. Thats what the 4 rotor is really designed for.
The Rx8 is still selling well and as a company Mazda is profitable again. I see a very promising future ahead for us rotor heads.

I know ill be at Road Atlanta to see this cars debut, I was hoping it would be at sebring but no such luck. It should do rather well in the P2 class as only 2 cars finished at sebring.

I too wish it was ready in time to race at Sebring... Oh well, just means I will have to make plans for more ALMS races. Darn!

ALMS levels the playing field using intake restrictors. To keep LMP2 slower than LMP1, the LMP2 class has much smaller intake restrictors. Sorry, but a 20B sucking through a 2 inch hole won't reach 9K RPM (unless it's in neutral.)
I'll let someone else spectulate on the HP a 20B can make sucking through a 49.1mm restrictor.
I found LMP1/P2 rules for 2004 here. <www.mulsannescorner.com/2004LMP12.pdf>
Several mentions of rotary engines, including allowing only rotaries to have variable length intake manifolds.

i don't see the big deal. so mazda's gonna build a custom race engine that makes as much power as a road going c6 vette. alms is still going to have to handicap all the piston cars to make this engine competitive, so what's that really saying about the capabilities of the rotary?

repost but still good info. However one of the cars hasent been doing that well as far as standings . Maybe take one of those dyson racing teams drivers and have them do a stint in the 20B racing car.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
see there is hope. maybe one day we will be driving a new RX-? and keep the **** cracking, its gonna take a lot to out do the FD, I am sure I can get a witness? but I bet a 3 rotor renesis could do it. I am thrilled that there is a chance they are engineering a rotary contender for the future. Zoom. Zoom. Zoom. I want them to catch up with the C6's and ****. Amen.
