Malloy Mazda contact info?
How do I get in touch with these Jabronies to get a reman motor for my dad?
Also, are the motors still the same quality that they were 18 months ago when I bought mine?
thanks guys--

No these motors are not as good as they use to be. If you want to contact Mr. Crow, I believe the info is on the forum someplace. You could also try calling KDR.
Its kind of a hit or miss thing with remans.
I don't plan on my engine going anytime soon, but I'm ordering the things that I will need when it goes. New Rotor housing every other month or so, etc...

I know on my reman, Dave found new rotors and rotor housings when he pulled it apart to port it. Hopefully my dad will get something similar.
Thanks for the input, guys

When the time comes, I will have new housing, rotors, e-shaft, seals, etc...
So I'll find a good engine builder or build myself a brand new engine.

And now you're an artillery officer (probably a 1 LT by now)
Seriously, I'm looking into a remanufactured 13B REW as well for my motor swap. Everyone seems to wax poetic about Malloy. Couldn't I just go to my local dealer and have them order one for me?
Confused?

I think people go with Malloy because they have the lowest prices and best customer service around. My Dad just dealt with Ray Crowe, and received the same excellent service and great price that I did 2 years ago. Also, Ray has given my dad the lowest prices around on stock parts.
hope this helps,
Rich

i just ordered one from Ray at Malloy 2 days ago. I highly recommend them to anyone who is in need of a new engine. Ray told me that the remans did have a quality problem in the past but that had already been fixed. The recent engines usually comes with new rotors and housings in addition to the t.stat and the water pump. Plus the engine costs less than 2k and he's a very nice guy to deal with.

What about this Rob Golden Fellow From Pineapple
I'm reading that his motors are top-notched. For $2000 you get a base rebuild that's stronger than OE specs with a 2-year warranty. The $2500-motor has 5 year/60K mile warranty, and it's apparently balanced and blue-printed with heavy duty springs for the seals, and other goodies??

Here's Pineapple Racing's price list:

Congrats on making Captain--SIR
(Was prior service myself...left as a SSG/E-6 )

Rob Golden
Yeah...it'll be a PITA to have Rob ship form the Left coast to Indiana though...I'm thinking that a small street port, oil and coolant passages ported, on the $2500-motor might be the ticket. Nothing fancy, but at least the Pineapple motor will be a strong motor with a few trick ports for cooler running, and the potential for a little more horsey to catch those Z06es

Reason why I went with Malloy reman instead of Pineapple:
1. You're looking at at least a month before you see your new pineapple engine
2. I've heard from my mechanic, Ray from Malloy, and some other individuals that with religious maintenance, a good quality reman would last anywhere from 70k - 100k. I change oil every 1500m, do all the regular maintenances myself, uses premix, and I'm a gambler, so it was easy for me to go with Malloy.
3. I liked Pineapple's long warranty but then you have to use Evans which I don't want. And is it really that easy to claim a new one if yours does blow say 4 years down the road?
4. $$$
5. The reman comes with new parts (housings, t-stat, waterpump...etc). I don't know about pineapples...

I've taken the first step in starting the "beast" project.
I sent Malloy Mazda an email requesting Ray Crowe to send Dave Barninger, of KD Rotary, a Malloy Reman for Dave to build up and ship to AIM Tuning https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...t=malloy+reman
Hope Ray Crowe emails me back?

Ray is great
I had an engine on reserve from him and he waited until he got his next shipment of 10 new motors, then inspected all of them and sent me the best looking one....mrrx7tt (forum member) is getting ready to port the engine right now and he says it looks BRAND NEW....he also told me mazda releases a very small number of new engines to replenish the dwindling supply of good cores....hopefully I got one, we'll see when he pops it open

Can I please get the email for Ray @ Malloy. I know I used it before but cannot remember it and there are a million threads with malloy in it. After I get it I will add Malloy to the NE section and places to get cars worked on/parts for.

their e-mail does no good as you have to call to place the order. ray is a great person to talk to and knows these cars better than anyone. just give him a call at 888-533-3400 and make sure he knows you're on the forum so you can receive extra discount

No **** I can call, I've ordered through Ray a few times. I want to email them for a price because I have about 15 separate pieces I want prices for. I don't feel like asking Ray to sit and write down all the full part numbers and then get back to me.
And no, you do not have to call to place th order, you can just give them your info if they know you and you ordered from them a few times before
