M2 Stage 3 w/Midpipe Installed + ?'s

I installed the M2 Stage 3 ECU last week and set the boost to 12 psi. It was a noticeable difference but not as much as adding the midpipe the day after.

The midpipe makes a world of difference. I also disconnected the airpump while I was at it.

The car runs really really rich at idle. Not sure about rest of rpm's since I don't have a wideband. Oh and the 3k hesitation is more noticeable now I think because the midpipe.

What can I do to lean it out? I'm planning to install an Greddy 2-Row IC in the near future and that should be it.

I might do the sequential simplification.

Any suggestions? Smells horrible!

Midpipe stinks. Period. Don't think there is much you can do about it. You can lean out with an adjustable ECU. With M2 you can't.

Just hook the airpump back up. At least your idle will be good again. You should have realized that the car would smell before you installed the midpipe...

Exclamation

For the idle, keep driving it a little and see if it eventually evens out.

You know that M2 does not recommend midpipes with their ECU, so keep an eye out for boost creep.

As mentioned, you can't tune the M2 ECU. However, you can add a fuel controller like the Apexi Super AFC or the HKS AFR to remove fuel from your M2 maps (for a little fine tuning). Those controllers are ideal for removing fuel but not for adding.

I think I'm going to hook the airpump back on. As for the midpipe, Brian said as long as I keep an eye on the boost it should be fine.

I ported the wastegate and haven't noticed any boost creep yet. However, when running 12 psi, pattern is 11.x-9-12.x. Primary is always a little lower than secondary so am I supposed to set peak boost to 12 psi per M2's recommendation?

I'll think about the fuel controllers, I didn't think about that. Does anyone know if M2 uses Techtom chip? If so, I think I know someone who can fine tune my ECU hopefully.

Anyways, I'll see if the airpump will make it a little better.

Plugged the airpump and idle was pretty high, 1500 rpm. Adjusted idle back to ~850 rpm and now everything is fine. Still smells a little because of midpipe but not excessively rich as it was before.

What piggyback fuel computer do you guys recommend to remove some fuel? I was thinking Apex'i S-AFC II.

Well, thanks for your help people.

You can use midpipe with M2 ECU, BUT you need to install a restrictor plate. I did so and have no problems keeping boost at 10psi with straight-through exhaust and intake system. I'm installing M2 ecu this week though to run 12psi.

Nah...forget the restrictor, just port your wastegate. I have no boost creep problems at all.
