Lost Power After ~4500rpm

When I stomp ont he gas, it'll pull good until about 4500rpm's. Then, it just kinda falls on it's ***. It'll make a LITTLE power, but it noticeably drops off and I know it's not supposed to do that. The turbos are working alright, cause it switches over at 3500 and pulls for a little bit, then drops off. All I have for performance mods is a DP and MP, no catback or anything like that. Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

check to verify both lines are connected to the black vac chamber in front of the motor.

How much boost do you get when it falls on its face? This might be part of the problem, so lets start here.

Your secondary turbo comes on at 4500 RPM's, not 3500. You have a boost leak or failing solenoid which is causing your loss of power after the transision. Do you have a boost guage?

Its probably a check valve. Takes a good mechanic 1-3 hours to fix it. I used to have the same problem. If you had a boost gauge you would see that it is only reading 0.5 bar.

It could be a clogged fuel system. When was your fuel filter last changed? Or it could be the fuel pump, let's hope not $$$.

Well I would check your vaccum lines 1st, then see if your solenoids and actuators are working properly. Also check to see if your Charge Relief Valve is opening, cuz if its not the second turbo will not pre-spool. This was my issue, Turned out to be a clogged CAT. of all things. What is your boost pattern? Its most likely a vaccum line but thats what I thought when I went to check mine.........Drove me CRAAAAAAZZZZYYY!!!! Then I took it to PFS and all was fixed. Borla midsection instead of CAT and now it runs its *** off.

A boost gauge is the best money I've spent. No matter what you think, you need to get one.

Boost Gauge... I don't have the boost gauge in yet, so I can't tell. I tried hooking it up once, but it didn't get power, I think it's faulty. If anyone has experience with the Blitz EL (or any EL) boost gauge, it'd really help.

Vacuum Lines... At 156k miles, that could very well be the problem. I'll probably have a hose job done on it or try to do it myself, I've helped a friend do his before, we spent 3 days on it, Friday morning to Sunday afternoon.

Turbo Switch Over... The change over in my car hits from 3700 to 4200, I ran it to find out last night. It falls on it's *** not long after that.

Fuel... I've had the car for about 2 months, just had an oil change when I got it. Don't know about the fuel filter. I'm about 200 miles from the 3k oil change now, but I'm positive that's not it. I'm going to change the filter on it and see if that helps. Also, I always use 93 octane.

Cat Clogged... Well, seeing as I don't have a pre-cat or main-cat anymore, it's neither one of those. It's straight pipe to the stock cat-back.

My Guess... With the straight pipe, could the turbo's be boosting to high and the stock computer has a fuel cut in it like the T2? If that's the case, then I'd bet it's hitting the fuel cut.

Noone around here does boost gauge installs (how hard can it be?) or hose jobs... as soon as I say it's an RX7 I get the same thing... "We don't even touch those here." So, I'll have to take it to Rampage or KDR probably. Isn't there a Rotary Performance in Manassas? I don't want to go to PFS, I've heard to many bad things.

You are better off going to KD if you don't want to go to PFS. It will take a pretty long time to get your car in there, but it's worth it.

PFS is good if you want quality performance extras done, but as for diagnostic stuff they kinda steer clear of those. Im sure he would be more then happy to install the boost gauge for ya.

I had a bad experience there once but Peter made sure I left a happy customer.
