looking for v-mount for twins
Have been searching for a V-mount for the twins. Coolant temps normal but intake tmp heat soak in the arizona summer or when sitting in traffic. Was hoping FDNewbie's forthcomming system would be available but haven't seen any activity. Choices I can find are hks, rx-7 store, knightsports,RE amemiya, and revolution.
Want to keep my A/C and have lthe firefighters intake. Willing to change intake.
After looking at the systems deciding which one by looking at photos is not best way to decide to spend a few buck. Leaning towards the Amemiya for having a 3 core and also cheaper than the other systems that seem to offer what I want. Ruled out the rx-7 due to a/c and size, hks would not be first choice for me.
So looking for feedback, anyone familiar with the three last systems I listed? Or something I missed besides a custom which is not a good option for me? Am looking to get done by SevenStock.

Yes, have found old and more recent threads but not much help in difficulties encountered. Found an old post on the amemiya asking about what intakes would work and thread ended. Lots on the system Chuck put together too bad it is not available anymore. Know that relocating the battery will have to happen or else go to a small oddessy but information on that is no problem.

Knight Sports is a fantastic kit. Allows you to keep your battery in the stock location, allows you to keep A/C. I'm currently using this kit with the HKS RS intake.

FDeez nice looking install and clean engine bay, wow.
Have seen writeup on the knights sports and that is helpfull. Was leaning a bit towards the RE setup thinking the 3 core ic and radiator are going to be a benefit here in AZ but the little info I can find on system is not helping my decision. The Revolution is pricey but every thing I read says it is a complete package, certainly looks that way from parts that are included.

Why not just get A/I??? It's cheaper, you don't need to worry about pressure drop associated with a larger FMIC and it will drop your AIT with a quickness when you need it, under boost.
Oh yeah, it's also cheaper...
**EDIT**
Don't get me wrong, V-mounts are awesome! I'm getting one at the end of the summer. Just saying that a v-mount alone will not solve all heating problems. I'd get yourself a vented hood and A/I first, see where you're at then go from there..

i have the rx7store v mount and am pleased with it. i also made a custom dual oil cooler kit. i should have no problems keeping my fd cool. i did all this for mazdafest at buttonwillow which sometime has rediculous track temps in mid july. hehe

What are your intake and water temps right now w/o ducting?

Does this V mount setup have appeal to any of you? This was intended for use with the twins. You can use it with a stock airbox (or fab a CAI) and, yes, it retains factory A/C and fits with stock nose & undertray.

Ill try to get some pics in a few days.. but what I ended up doing is.. I had an old Honda a/c condensor laying around.. It was a little smaller and I was able to stick it to the underside of the radiator then with the fans behind that.. Then just made some new piping for it.. Like I said though Ill try to get some pics

Speed you don't mention if this is a custom fit or an available kit. When I started the thread want to know what I was in for and to keep the A/C. Also the amount of fabrication needed to keep this project within my talents. I just don't have an area in which to fabricate brackets and do machining except for some minor work with die grinder or wheel grinder. Just know having the right tools make the job enjoyable and without them a task I should stay away from. Fendamonky mentioned AI and just from a personal choice the A is when this system should be installed. Want to get a good base from which to start and if there is still some issues perhaps then would be the time to add AI. Am hoping with the twins and 12 to 14 lbs of boost will not need to go beyond the vmic. Choosing the right system is my goal just now. Recently had the engine rebuilt with an aggressive street port and when Steve Kan was tuning ran into this issue (all driving was break-in before the tune with no boost). Should mention prior had the PF purple box and until installing the PFC was blissfully ignorant of intake temps, watching only the oil and water temps. Now that I am aware of this I can either garage during the summer or do something about it. Enjoy driving the car way too much so really was an ezz decision but now come the choice.
So guys any help is appreciated

Jason at RX7store has a VMIC that is smaller that allows you to keep Ac and a PC680 battery. I started a thread about turning my M-Spec greddy FMIC into a VMIC. He has already done that in this thread. It's worth a look.

Good luck.

Had seen the tread and Jason last mentioned he is not making the smaller VMIC at this time. Of course it would be just normal to just have ordered a more expensive JDM system and next another choice comes available. Kind of like when I purchased my computer, price drops and now faster. I will keep an eye on this and Jason's web site until I drop the $, then I don't want to know. tks

The basic kit is a bolt-in using standard hand tools and a drill. Beyond that, it can be customized as one wishes. There is another one of these v-mounts out there that is using an ASP large I/C and a different intake system.
