Also you could always just get an aftermarket steering wheel that already has two buttons installed in it and wire that up. I would be alot less work than retrofitting paddle shifters.

i think a full paddle shift set-up for the 5speed would cost mega $
you'd need:
a sequential dog-box
various custom brackets
the paddle interface (controlls)
some sort of actuator to shift the actual transmission
and a lot of wiring
you'd need:

I saw that, but it requires retrofitting a bmw m3 smg steering wheel. probably pretty pricey, not to mention that it wouldn't fit. I guess I could use the cruise buttons as PCS suggests. I even thought of rigging up some paddles from my mad cats gt3 wheel...ahem, just brainstorming here ok? Really, all I need are 2 switches, so the mad catz would work fine. It's an experiment. I was thinking of a temporary install with like tie wraps or something.

how about making some small brackets out of sheet metal, bend them to fit between the stearing wheel outer circle and part that connects it to the hub. Then just drill the bracket, install the buttons, use small metal or plastic screws to attach the bracket to the crook in the steering wheel I mentioned and then just run black wires down into the steering colum. I think that would look pretty good. Also don't forget to spray paint the brackets black too. What do you think? THats what I origanally was thinking about.

Dude...why don't you check out some of those professional simulator steering wheel companies. They make really STURDY F1 style paddle shifters that are probably perfect for what you want.
There's tons of companies that make them...perhaps you can buy just the paddles as extra parts to use...lemme look for a link. Like BRD..they're just one company that makes steering wheels..super high quality, too.

thanks all for the replies. i have contacted some "sim" wheel companies. they are very serious about their "wheels", some cost upwards of $1500. yeti-thanks for your design ideas, i may do something similar, at least as a test mule. i had thought of just tie wrapping some buttons on there to start. however, it looks like the pcs is not as plug in play as I originally suspected, at least, not as long as you are running anything other than the stock ecu. I will be busy with that for a while, so the paddles are on the back burner.

the cruise control does not work with the tcu so far. mine was pretty flaky anyway, so i rarely used it. i didn't even notice that it was not working until the pts guys pointed it out.
