Well well, looks like we've got ourselves a regular Old Fart reunion party! I'm sad that no one remembered little ol' Jose! Perhaps we should take this conversation to the world renowned Texas Steakhouse in Winchester, VA?
Every so often, I'll find myself reminiscing about the old days. I remember back when I had my 2nd gen, oogling and drooling all over the 3rd gens, begging the original "3rd gen Badboys" for a few laps around Summit Point. Jeez, back then, VIR was still an old, abandoned, 60's era race track! I remember driving down to MADS, pulling into the parking lot through a flurry of activity. There were people swapping brake pads, bleeding brakes, fiddling with PFS purple box keypads, (while a select, elite few actually had the laptop datalogging software!), swapping on their BFG R1's, (Kuhmo didn't even have a track tire out at the time), or just generally hanging around checking out cars, putting faces to Big List email addresses, etc. It was amazing... You could walk out of your Best Western hotel room at any hour of the day or night, and there would be someone out there you could lend a hand to.
I remember following terrible battles on the list between two individuals, only to see them meet in person at a track event and shake hands like gentlemen. I remember when ONE guy would show up at the track with a single turbo equipped 3rd gen, and everyone would just stand before it in the paddock, neglecting to notice the various puddles of drool before them as they stare at the massive turbo with glazed-over eyes.
One thing that will never be forgotten is how the great David Lane always managed to put the most asinine discussions to rest with his eloquent words of wisdom, followed by numerous posts demanding that he run for president. I miss those days, before everyone started moving on to other cars, and started leaving the list for various reasons.
By far, the greatest friend I made on the list, as many others have already stated, is definitely JVOB, whom I still miss very much. Those who knew him know the kind of person he was, and how there was no one like him. I didn't keep in touch with him as much as I should have while he was here, and I now live with that pain every day.
I still have my 3rd gen locked away in a small garage in the states, while I live and work in the Middle East. When I return, I'll most likely sell it and move on as others have, as I have found that I do not have the same passion for the car I once hand. However, to this day, I have not found a more incredible group of people to share an obsession and addiction with. I thank you all for the years of good reading, the laughs, the incredible amount of information I have learned from you all, and the feeling of belonging to something.
Once I'm back home in a few years, I'll find myself a nice, barely used C6 Z06, and we'll all pick up where we left off.

Glad to hear you're still around, Brad! Been meaning to give you a holler one of these days.

I've had a few cars owned by Big listers. Johnnys wrecked R1, Trev Dagleys R1, RIP Trev (formerly Todd Serota's car), Duane Krumwiede (Crooked Willow) and Tuck's PEG.
Tuck's white 94 PEG was the donor car for front sheetmetal on this car:

Later I used the front end structure for the restoration of my CYM, sold to another Big Lister.

I almost bought your old CYM Jeff before Fritz bought it.

Jose, I certainly didn't forget about you.
Hell, you were there on almost all the trips to Summit that I attended.
You just need to make damn sure you make it home from the sandbox so we
can do the reunion you mentioned.
How about some of the other cast of characters from the early years?
Cute girl with White FD with Fikse wheels. She was always at either PFS
or Summit Point. I had dinner with her multiple times.
Cute girl that drove the bronze Miata with Panasport wheels. Again,
she was always around, with Duff and at Summit Point.
"Chris", he had a vintage red FD and was from the Annapolis area. He
went to the famous 1997 Mid Ohio event and hit a tractor-trailer retread
on the way and really messed up his nosecone. (he and I shared a penchant
for Guinness) (hot girlfriend too)
Husband/wife roadracing and instructing team. Great people, cannot remember
their names. Were very active on the DCRx7 mailing list. I believe they both
instructed at the '97 Mid Ohio event and at Summit events.
There are many others, but that's just what crossed my mind as I relaxed over
tea and a movie on this Sunday morning.
Oh and it looks like I will be instucting and attending the MDA events this year.
Not sure if my car will make it to the March event, but I should be there.

Big lister from 96 here as well, but not on it for a while. What about the semi-switch some of us pulled before the advent of AOL instant messenger and this forum and met often in the Road and Track or Car and Driver chat rooms. Our constant use of the term of 3rd Gen had to atleast broaden the vocabulary of some of the vette owners who also frequented that area. Since I have lost touch with many of the big listers and others in the afore mentioned chat rooms (ie Bill and Jose), someone mind filling me in on what happened to JVOB? I can still remember like it was yesterday when he was passing through the Atlanta area to go to VIR and I met him at a McDonald's off I-75 for about 30 minutes. It was when the car was the silver and blue with the nicely ducted stock hood. What happened to Jim?
Glad to see those I learned so much from still around and made this hobby even more fun.
I thought David Lieberman had sold his CYM back in the late 90's. I went with David and Steven O'Sheal to the '98 World sportscar challenge at Road Atlanta. We passed Steven in his bimmer on the way and couldn't find him once we got there.
