Well I feel that prices for FD's in the states are inflated, I mean come on the cars are almost 20 years old now. Dont get me wrong yeah there are some nice FD's the states. lol just because you know name for the color of paint does not add 3000 to price of the car LOL.
Here In Japan you can pick up a really nice FD for 2500 ~ 5000 easy. And when some military guy is going back to the states they need to sell it or they cant leave. So they go for cheap. I have seen a few good ones with MazdaSpeed body parts go for under 1500 over the past few years.

The whole car culture is different so I wouldn't say prices for North American FDs is inflated. In Japan people buy a new car every couple years. Pretty much drop their old one at the auction with the 20000 other old cars.

well US FD owner have about 6 years left then prices will drop like a rock in 2016 ~ 2017 when you can start importing FD's directly from japan with out doing any mods to them. So hang on to your butts.

^ RHD RX7s cannot be legally imported into the United States. So the wait for JDM is still December 2016 unless someone produces compliance papers from Mazda USA.
NHTSA:
All eligibility numbers are for left-hand drive motor vehicles except where the initials "RHD," signifying right-hand drive, appear in the model type column.
1987-95 RX7 doesn't have RHD in the column. Offtopic so I'll end it at that.
NOW BACK TO 87GTR's CAR

ok now back to the mission at hand.
the old owner had put this fake carbon fiber sticker stuff everywhere. So I found some replacements. I dont like carbon look with stickers.
so I picked up good used stock ones.
but the aircon / heater control does not have the same plug on it?
the replacement came of 96 and this car is a 92
the original is on the left and the replacement one I picked up is on the right
Im going to try and see if can swap the control unit on to the replacement cover

92 Type X panel is a bit different because of the auto climate control.
Maybe sand and repaint the panel if you plan on keeping your auto climate control. Don't switch the climate control box over to the other panel.
Regular Series 6 panel looks the same on the rear as that 96 series 7.

I personally would have gone with the manual controls. Argh I should have added it was my personal opinion above but oh well. The last Type X parts car I looked at had wonky Auto climate too according to the owner. I can't fix the damn thing and can only ever find manual controls lol.

If anyone gets misled by me into swap their auto climate for manual controls it isn't as easy as just changing the console. On a track car A/C isn't a huge issue so I suggested it here.
It is a days worth of work to remove the dash, sensors, fix wiring, heater hoses, actuators etc to completely swap from auto to working manual climate. Hence why I've never done it lol. Dumb me forgot to add that into the post above.

pick up a replacement instrument cluster with a working odometer.
installed the reworked aircon panel
next on the list the cluster surround this one is missing
I didn't like the shift **** that in the car so I use a heavy weighted one from 91 Inifini FC3S that I had as a spare.
decided when I do the rebuild to go single turbo so the intakes gotta come out

kuroneko just stopped by and dropped off a 1998 steering wheel.
the past owner had a momo race installed.
what the heck is this? say clock winding on it.
The new steering wheel wont clear that big connector on the left so I took it out.
just test fitting the new one. but need to wire up the horn

That's the clock spring. The wiring goes through there so it doesn't get tangled when you spin the wheel. I think it also turns off your blinkers automatically when you turn the wheel back but I could be wrong about that.
