Launch control.. good or bad..??

Hi..

I have the HKS F-con PRO and i have set the launch control to work, but it is safe for the engine..??

Can the engine get damage by using launch control. I have set it to 5500 rpm and it is banging a lot from the exhaust. I am nervous about if it could break the engine..??

I hope someone can inform me...

Thanx

i'd set the launch a little bit lower, i'm assuming you're on the stock twins?

If you're on stock twins you should probably set you're luanch controll to about 3200 - 3600 rpm. what you have it set at is way high man. ~3500 rpm is fine since it's just enough to where when the load gets dropped on the engine when the launch occurs that it will spool the turbos very quickly and get you going nice and quick.

^Both you guys didnt bother to read his sig, huh? He definetly has a single...Between a T04R and the T51Kai I am not sure which...

Sorry, dont know the answer to your question though. How is the launch control supposed to work? Does it cut the spark? Or the fuel? If its the fuel, I would be a little iffy...

ha wow yea totally missed the sig. I'd still keep the rpm that's set for the launch to below 4100 rpm

o and i think it's probably an ignition type rev limiting device since a fuel cut would be kind of dangerous and most rev limiting system are based on ignition cut

just make sure you put a wire mesh screen on the tailpipe to catch all of the apex seals

Actually, I'd be more concerned about catching the rear end diff parts if he's not careful...

Hmm... Yes i have the T51 now and it has to be around 5500 rpm. It is setting the ignition back and do not make fuel cut. But the thing i want to know is, if anybody know that the engine could be damaged of using the launch control...??

Lupe: Do you use launch control..?? And what fuel management are you using..???

Thanx for your guys reply...

I'm not sure how the Fcon works. I use a MSD 2 Step.

i'm just curious.. does your tuner read japanese? or did u buy the car ready?

as far as i know the FCon's software was all in Kanji.. unless there's an english version i didn't know about? but since ur talking about having set the 5,500 LC.. then that means u can customize it...

more info if u don't mind... i could really use it... thanks

Hi...

There is not many HKS dealers in the world who can tune the F-con PRO, but the guy who tuned my car is a HKS Pro dealer. I know he was in England for a week just to learn about the F-con Pro. Yuo have to have a special "key" to work with the F-con pro and that is only the PRO dealers of HKS who can get that key.
And yes i think it is in english because i know he is not talking japanese...

The "problem" by using the F-con Pro is that the there is only one guy in miles away that can change the mapping.. So you dont want to not to be friends with him... But the HKS F-con Pro is a super computer...
I am very happy that i did buy this for my FD. It have never runs smoother than it does right now..

thanks buddy..

we have a 1000hp Skyline here that used the Vpro... (golden box).. but there's no HKS dealers for 1000's of miles... it was tuned for japanese weather and altitude, now it's at sea level and needs a re-tune... we're driving it as is for the moment ..but i know we're losing alot of ponies this way...

so there's no way we can do it ourselves huh?
