Knightsports turbos

Hiya

Dumped my car down at an rx7 specialist here in the UK and they've informed me that I have knightsports turbos on the car. Just wanna ask if anyone knows anywhere that sells them or got any information on them, be interested to see the spec of them.

Sadly she's only running 0.5 bar and they suspect something's wrong with them.. hopefully might be able to rebuild? gwad knows!

Tried the knightsports website in Japan but their products page doesn't seem to work

anyone had anything to do with them in the past?

much thanks

Andy

I say its your vaccum system also.

My seq set up ran exactly .5 and ended up being my lines to turbo acturators.. chnged it and worked perfect (of course my engine blew week later... non turbo related.. coolant seal).

I don't think its your turbos.. All you have to do is itake the intakes off and check for play and oil.. Remember (i'm sure its same here as there).. People always want to sell you things and make money.. few will acturally tell you the truth. Unless the turbos are out of the car, its hard to really say its the turbos.... unless you could really see the shaft play..

Good luck!!

thanks for your inputs guys. I've had this odd boost problem since i've had the dammed car. Started with thinking it was a blocked cat.. so out that came (it was blocked).. no joy. Upgraded to power FC, still no joy so thats the ecu...replaced the lines to the dump / check values etc..

They are taking the turbos out to have a look at them so hopefully they won't be messed up and it is something like the lines to the actuators.

It's the oddest thing. I installed a bleeder value (or two) and have managed to get it right up to 0.9 but soon as it goes over the 0.5 mark it rises but theres no power going through what so ever.. just feels like somethings holding it back.

Anyway i'll keep ya posted. Just interested to what boost i could run with the knightsports... I pray it's something cheap dammit

thanks again!!

My friend had knight sport high flow on his CYM R1. knight sport claim it will support 400 engine hp with CPU upgarade. when we dyno my friend's car on dyno jet. with 10 psi of boost(same as stock)the car got(PFC.down pipe. catback)
so the car is almost stock. and A/F was mid 10 at WOT(log by wide band) we got 240WHP at 6000RPM. oh BTW most of knight sport parts are made in USA. so I think one of USA's shop can rebuild for you

mmmmm 400.. now I could handle that

mine made 217 at the hubs >> around stock bhp with a blocked cat and 0.5 bar of boost so I'm liking the sounds of these.

Are they very expensive do you know. I tried to find them on google but no such luck. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with them, but if they are worth a lot of money, I would wanna rebuild them

rf420 = 420hp. If that's what you have, then they are worth a lot of money: ¥312,900

(the ks products page IS working, btw)

they are rebuilds - and ks certainly don't send turbos to the US for a rebuild. Probably the dumbest FD myth I've heard this month.

On the other hand, it could be a totally different product altogether.

400 engine HP (or 345-360 RWHP) isn't that much.. stock seq. or 99 280 seq have proven to make 340-380 RWHP..

It's a rebuild - it's not going to make substantially more power than factory twins.

Also note that the 420hp (ps) was not estimated from a US dyno - from my experience, there's a significant difference in that regard.

I still can't find the magazine I had which reviewed these and included a dyno sheet - so I'm not sure what boost level = 420. There could be room to move if you wanted to push them.

In any case, not sure if it is a viable alternative for those in the US (or anywhere outside of japan). IIRC, the price listed was for exchange. God knows how much it would be for a fresh set.

What I mean. KS really like to use stuff from USA(unlike most tunner in JAPAN for sure their radiator is RON DAVIS from AZ and a lot of small stuff. and mabe this turbo is rebuild here in USA using KS spec...

No, I don't think so - might use US parts (and chinese bolts, for all I know), but they wouldn't have a rebuild supply - their workshop is pretty impressive, lot's of test equipment and so on - it doesn't make any sense

ooh they are quite pricey then!

Yeah was just interested to see what boost they could handle. Quite interesting as I'd never even heard of anyone with them in the UK.

400 would be great for me, been stuck at stock bhp for so long now, I wanna know what all that feels like hehe

again thanks for the help guys, it's all very interesting to me
