Knightsport EBS III vs Greddy Profec B-spec II

I have a buddy that wants to trade me a Knightsport EBS III boost controller in great shape for my Greddy Profec B-spec II. What do you think? Is there any real difference between the two? Price? Value? Quality?

yes, Knightsports one is more expensive than profec B. and its easier to hook up. 1 plug, 1 vaccume hose. It uses the stock solenoids, ideal for stock sequential setup.... Someone correct me if i remembered wrong, but i don't think you can use it for single turbo setup.

IMO, just keep ur profec B, unless u really want a KS. the Profec may potentially last you longer if u start to do high HP mods.

I own a EBS III and love it. Very accurate and great for sequential. It all really depends on your setup. If you're going to go single or even non sequential (if not already) then i'd stick with the profec B. The EBS is only really needed for controling the sequentials.

Thanks! I'll just keep my Profec then.

Profec B is tried and true. Ppl have been using the old Profec B for YEARS, and now the Profec B Type-S (NOT the Type II) is just as high quality and reliable. This isn't to knock on the Knightsports unit; but like others have said, it has it's use limitations.

And to clarify, a good # of ppl have complained about various glitches and problems holding/setting boost w/ the Profec Type II. Digital readout may look all fancy schmancy, but no one has problems with the Type-S, so that's the route I'd go. Function over form when it comes to such a critical component...

^^ I am going to add to Ramy's comments on the ProfecII... I have had one on my car for about 3months and it already died... It wasn't too difficult to tune with the twins but it took several pulls to get it just right. I am just pissed that it died to quickly. I only run 12psi and it just stops working one day while out driving. I am pretty sure the head unit quit sending a signal to the solenoid... I hope yours just works longer than mine.

My guess is the Profec's don't have a warranty either...

I was probably going to just get the EBS and maybe sell it later on when/if I go single. I believe the EBS sells for a good amount...

I believe all electronics carry a warranty only if purchased from a licensed dealer. Sometimes you can get around that, but for the most part you can't.

$250-$350

I paid about $200 due to the patches that had to be done to the harness.
