hey guys, thanks for all the support, this is my car and we are hoping to do well. steve has some brilliant ideas and without the guys @ gotham (rich, alex, ihor and steve-o) none of this would be possible. we will make a good showing and represent the rotary as it should be, dominating. this car was built with the road course in mind, but it should do well in every catagory, except emissions, but we are working on that one...as far as some pics we can get some up, mods, well i don't think i could type that much, lets just say pretty much every thing....sometimes i forget everything but i can make a list and put it up. thanks again guys....may the force be with us...

Here are some tires for your FD:

Not cheap, but then nothing good ever is. Good luck with the competition and remember to keep that rotary cool, keep more than 1/3 tank of gas in it and watch those gauges!!!
Brett.

With this combination of car and driver, I wouldn't worry too much. I've seen the car and ridden with the driver and its a double-wow. I'd stick with the 17" wheels - you'll have a bit more sidewall than the 18", better for the drag racing, better for grandma, and still decent for the road course. good luck guys!!

Max Cooper has already generously donated his time and tools when we are in CA, thanks Max
For the record, all Paypal contributions will go to Jason Cameron (boostedrotor, my diminutive roommate) and he will spend all donated funds on his FD for the competition. Right now looking into tires and water injection.
Maybe someone can sticky the paypal link? I'll call Ryan and see if that is a possibility.....

I think everything will work out pretty well other than the burnout/horsepower competition since stickier tires will create wheel hop and I don't want to break anything in this car early in the event.
I estimated that I can probably get around 26mpg for the fuel economy test and 550rwhp without the aid of N2O in this car.

As for the wheels, 17x10 w/ slicks over 18s by far.

As for the wheels/tires, the only thing 18s will do is make your ride harsher (I guess that phuq up the "granny" score?). They will not give an improvement on a road course over 17s IMO. I think you should try Toyo RA-1s with the 17-inch Fikses. Their overall ride is less harsh than the Victos (again, this granny score thing comes to mind), and while some feel they have less outright grip than the Kumhos, that difference is negligible for something like this. The Toyos may be a good tire for the dragstrip as well; not as sticky as drag radials, but sticky enough to hook up after you've at least got some momentum going, to decrease wheel hop that could lead to diff destruction...

IIRC, they give you something like 5 gallons of gas and see how far you can go on that 5 gallons. They take a little pleasure drive through the mountains and the driver tries to be as light on the gas pedal as possible. How far you make it obviously determines your MPG. I could be a little off, but that's what I recall from reading last year's USCC. In that respect, I think that 26MPG is possible with spot on tuning. I think there were some big horsepower cars doing much better than that last year though.

This year's fuel economy drive route followed a winding 72 mile path over California's Highway 18. With a total elevation gain of more than 5000 vertical feet.
The article also says that 10 bonus points were offered to competitors who used pump gas, so that is something to consider. They seal the gas door with duct tape and record odometer readings before & after.
Here is how they finished:
97 Supra - 38.9 mpg
95 Eclipse - 34.0 mpg
02 350Z - 27.9 mpg
96 Viper - 28.8 mpg (on race gas - no bonus points)
92 Skyline GT-R - 26.7 mpg
94 Eclipse - 26.6
00 Audi S4 - 24.8
94 Supra - 22.8
Ultima GTR - 18.7
If Steve can light foot and tune his way to anywhere near 25 mpg, (on pump gas) they should be in good shape.

I just donated, but it would be nice to make it clear what the terms are so it is easier for people to help support your efforts.
THESE ARE NOT THE TERMS -- I AM JUST MAKING A SUGGESTION. So, people planning to donate, don't take my terms here as the final information. These are merely my suggestions:
1. The car has already been voted into the final competition, and will be competing barring any unforeseen circumstances.
2. The official address for Paypal donations is usccrx7@yahoo.com. This account is owned by the individual car owner (rather than a shop or other business entity), and the money will be used to cover expenses related to competing in the USCC event.
3. In the event that something goes wrong and the team is not able to compete, the money will not be returned. Donations are made in good faith that the team intends to compete, but there is always a chance that something could go wrong that would prevent the team from attending the event. No one wants this to happen, and it is unlikely, but it is possible and it is important to set expectations appropriately.
4. Donations are not tax deductible.
Does that sound right, guys?

Theres always about 3-4 FD's in the voting.
IF his car cant make it. We have enough people on here to vote one of the others in.
I think I remember seeing Jason's (rx7store) car in there, or one like it for the 1st event.
Who else on heres entering?

Do we have confirmation that this car has been voted into the final competition? I don't have a SCC subscription, so I don't know the status of the event.
If not, we better get ready to stuff the ballot box.
Does anyone know for sure? Please post!
