Angry Keep blowing "stop" fuses!

My buddy was following me and told me my brake lights were not working....

Fock!

Well, went to check the 20amp fuse on the driver's side panel and it was blown. Well replace with same and it blew again.

check my brake switch on the pedal and shows continuity with the brake released.

Like a Dumbass I stuck a wire there and it got red hot and melted the insulation.

Any help here fellas...would be much appreciated....Damn the electrical gremlins are kicking my *** on this car!

Where else could there be a short?

I am worried that I will be stopped by a cop or hit in the rear if i continue to drive this way.

The lights used to work fine before.....hmmmm.

It's gotta just be a weird ground somewhere. Take out the taillights and follow their wires as far as you can. I can't think of anything else.

thanks for the feedback...the lights turn on with the light switch...just the brake lights dont work. Also, the lights on the lower part of the bumper are just reflectors and reerse lights right. The reverse light work ok....the lower bumper lights do not come on at all...maybe i should start there?

thanks

Yup, you have a wiring grounding and shorting out somewhere.. those can be hard to find.

Probably wouldn't be a bad place to start. Unfortunately thats a pretty tedious task you have ahead of you. Basically just follow the wires until you find a ground that is ungrounded, or grounded wrong. You may want to pick up a multimeter (Sears or any decent auto parts store sells them) to help out. Good luck.
