thanks.
I use em and they work great imo.

Umm thats not cheap for a dumb oil filter.

You can get an OEM for like 6 bucks or go on ebay and sometimes people sell a pack of 5 or 6 for like 28 bucks.

Even the bosch ones, which are good, are only 11.99 at autozone.

Greddy wouldn't make the oil filter just like Mazdaspeed wouldn't. They would just rebadge it as their own. I used Mobile1 for a long time (ocasionaly K&N) but switched to Purolator Pure1 because it's about the same price as OEM and ususally rated in the top 3 but 1/2 the price. Pep Boys normally carries one in stock. Damn, this thread is old "lol".

on my recent rebuild ( ~ 10xxx on it ) it has seen track use ( 1-2 hours sessions ) daily driving and the daily running hard as well , never any presure issues .. start up problems .. nothing ...
is OEM not good enough ?

all made by Champion and all good filters, but the K&N does not use synthetic media like the Mobil 1 does

I'm amazed at how small the filter housing is on these cars, if the fuel dilution wasn't so bad, I would consider running an oversize bypass filter to extend oil service life

nothing is wrong with the OEM filters. A lot of people run OEM with no issues.

I've been using Mobil1 filters, but they are a bitch to get off. I'm going to have to look into these K&N filters to see if they will be any easier to remove.

K&Ns have the welded nut, so that does make them easier to remove

i use K&Ns for the FC in both my FC and my FD, but it is a tight fit in the FD. part number is HP-1004. I also use STP oil additive with every change now just to up the ZDDP levels.

I've been using the K&N for about 2 years. I like the socket fitting. It's nice in the tight location of the stock filter.

I paid about $3 or $4 for a cap wrench and it works pretty good. Don't have to worry about the tight space or buying a K&N with the nut.
