i had been running both the trans and diff brace. works great the slight vibration is WORTH IT. i should have patented it now everyone is making them

Do you have an engine torque brace as well?

Does anyone know if this will elliminate the engine torque brace all by itself to elliminate the 3rd gear miss? I hope so.

i'm just guessing here, but I think the tranny brace will probably do more than the engine torque brace with regards to the drivetrain twisting under load and causing missed shifts. Given that the twisting action is from the tires trying to put the torque down.

I have a GT35/40 with all the mods. I do not have an engine torque brace... still waiting on getting one. But, this does make a huge difference, and was worth the money to me anyway.

I don't know what the big hype of these engine torque damping thingys is. More engine Bay clutter.

I'm going with solid motor mounts

$280

and I'll probably STILL end up getting a tranny mount.

I have slight issue with this. In the boinger world of drag racing it's a big no-no to put solid tranny mounts in a car that has rubber engine mounts. Reason is the engine mounts allow the engine to torque and move and the transmission is solidly mounted. This makes the aluminum transmission a stressed member!
Check summit racing or jegs and you'll see the solid tranny mounts have a little disclaimer that they should only be used in conjunction with solid engine mounts.

Is this any reason my thinking is off?

Isn't the aluminum tranny already a "stressed member" in terms of drivetrain flex since it is braced by a steel PPF to the diff?

If anything becomes more stressed I think it would be the unibody of the car now at the mounting points for these and other braces....thereby the increased noise/harshness/vibration noticed. I am not sure how much force those 4 12mm bolts are meant to take in the "y" direction, but when installing my tranny brace I noticed the welds and actual brace bending to get everything toqued down fully so with any large load I think the welds would probably crack first.

I'm more worried about the vibration than the loads from the engine torquing over. When in neutral with the clutch out, I can hear my throwout bearing spinning....
I think I'm going to try out some rubber bushings. For what it's worth, I'm using polyurethane engine mounts.

Would this tranny brace interfere with any of these mounting points?

I think they bolt up to different holes because the red ones hook up under the exhaust while the tranny brace hooks up above the exhaust.

yeah they do different things.

the auto exe/mazdzspeed stuff decrease chassis movement

the tranny and diff brace decrease drivetrain movement

The Auto EXE brace system would not interfere with the transmission brace being discussed, but would interfere with the differential brace shown in other threads, since it uses the same mounting points.

Who needs a Diff brace when we have Nylon Bushings

b/c although the nylon bushings decrease movement over 2 axis (roll, yaw), it still reliies on the PPF to control the other (pitch). I think that's where most people are getting problems with wheel hop from and problems with cracking the diff casing? I plan on getting a diff brace just to alleviate that possible headache.

The bushings do definitely do a world of good though and I liked the bit of candor

There is nothing on the website because I'm putting content together at this moment, it's a little hard to do between all the other stuff but it's getting there.

I also agree with suganuma, the diff. bushings are nice but wouldn't help on the axis the diff brace does, as far as the trans brace creating a problem with the trans/bellhousing etc. I haven't had any problems yet and it's been quite awhile nor has anyone reported anything to me yet as well, they've been used in Japan for years and I haven't heard of any ill effects. If you feel uncomfortable that's fine I would say combine it with either stiffer engine mounts or a engine torque brace. For me I prefered the feel of this combined with a engine torque brace, over solid mounts it really stiffened up the drivetrain without the NVH that solid mounts create.

Those are auto exec braces and they wont interfere with the tranny brace.

Sean,

I think you sell the diff brace too, right? If you do, can you confirm what JimLab said that the Auto Exe braces would interfere with the diff brace?

Thanks,

POM HB
