Dude, that's why it's called an island, not a canyon.

I hope you had a fun car to enjoy our roads in,

Not all of the roads are nice. Drive around in LA and the freeways are not friendly at all to my suspension. Half the time I think I got a flat tire in any car I drive around here because the freeways are all patched up because of all the work they have been doing to them in the past years. But all in all we got great roads if you know where to go.

Streets are cracked, pot holed WAY too narrow( has to be against DOT standards if there are any) , NO shoulders,( don't ever get a flat or your screwed, or your Rim is screwed is should say), The curves crest hills and apex the turn at the same time.( Not very fun to deal with at speed or in the wet) When it does rain the roads bring up all the oil, like every where else, but it doesn't rain hard enough to wash it off and it is like driving on ice. Thats what they are like on my island anyways. And we only have 1 road that goes around the island and 1 that cuts across the middle (But you still have to drive the only road for 35 miles to get to the "Saddle road" as it's called. BUT: At least we have some roads to drive on I guess huh?

Ah..you're on da big isle, eh? Heh. I'm heading to Oahu, soon...and I remember the roads very well. It all depends on where you live, but H1-H2 & defo H3 are a helluva lot nicer than they used to be last time I was there. What sucks is the fact that there's so much traffic that you really don't get to enjoy a good road when you find one.

The trip up to Mililana and Kapolei is always a pleasurable one. I'm considering moving to that part of the island upon my return.

A good thing is the fact that finally, my baby 7 will get to stay DRY for more than only a few days for a change! The weather in Tacoma, WA and the United Kingdom is just so DREARY, she hasn't ever had a dry summer! It'll be great.

Hey Skunks...see ya soon.

The grass is always greener on the other side. If I could live in Hawaii, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

The west coast seems to be much better at building roads than everybody else. I can tell you that South Carolina roads are horrible and from my recent drive up the east coast, North Carolina roads arent much better. I like Virginia roads, but their cops suck and they dont allow radar detectors. Connecticut and Jersey I didnt care for too much either because the whole friggin northeast seems to think that its okay to charge like 6 bucks to drive on their roads for an hour. That drove me insane. Anyways, I digress... my vote for the best roads are most likely Cali, Nevada, and Arizona. Their weather is mostly good so the precipitation doesnt tear up the roads and they dont have to be salted nearly at all.

Maybe you can shed some light on that eternal question of:

How can Hawaii have INTERSTATE roads?

By the way, how much is gas in Hawaii?

I've never gotten a straight answer on that question.... And gas on the Big Island is 2.48-2.54 depending on the station!!! Other side of the island is 10 cents cheaper. And usually 30 cents cheaper on Oahu.( Bastards!!)

I mispelled Mililani, by the way...ugh!

Anyways...the "highways" & "interstates" are nice...it's the roads that are in the cities and in the neighborhoods that are CRAP. Oahu, has TONS of vehicles..and overcrowding has become quite a problem as of late. The trip from Downtown Honolulu to Ewa Beach took us two hours one day. Ridiculous...absolutely ridiculous.

That's one of the reasons we're going to try to live and work on the Kapolei side...it's not as crowded and is relatively quiet, yet has good roads, and excellent facilities (theaters, shopping, Zippys).

To be honest, the driving from H-2 up to the North Shore is REALLY good. I can't wait to drive down from it in my 7...must be a blast. Last few times, it's been in a Corolla and a Neon.
