The only problems we had with the JIC were that adjusting it was not as quick and easy as it is with my HKS- everything is welded into one piece so it sticks right in. The piping was 80mm, but it seemed thin to me, like it was made out of rolled sheet metal. Weight savings, I guess. We had to twist the can around so that the bullet sign was on the side and visible from around the car. The exhaust hangers are attached to a band (not welded to the cannister like other exhausts) and the band had to be readjusted as well. It was a pain to realize that you couldn't get the think into the hanger mounts after mounting the cat end of the pipe. We didn't think it would have to be adjusted out of the box since the bolts were tightened down. The can fits really tight to the bumper skirt and Dan has already complained of melted plastic. We're either going to dremel out the skirt around the tip, or make some kind of heat shield for it. Probably both if we get the time for it. Midpipe mark became a problem too. The cannister needs to be slid out off the piping enough that the tip clears the bumper. That combined with starting with the car in gear and the clutch in to avoid AWS instead of blipping the throttle will prevent that black spit that FD's and Ducattis share the personality trait of.
As far as performance, I believe that the dp, catback combo that Dan and I currently share will yield enough extra boost to make intercooler and y-pipe inspection necessary. I blew the top y-pipe piece off the other night just cruizing arounder 4500. Dan had a dp before and exhaust and I had an exhaust before a dp, I think the main conclusion is that they both work together in opening up the performance potential for the other. This kind of set up makes for 2/3 of the exhaust path open, allowing for the catback and downpipe to work as well as they can without restriction from anything but the main cat- now boost controller. I think the next mods, for me at least will be intake, full polished intake piping and intercooler piping, and a remap. Dan has a polished Efini y-pipe that will be going in when he is ready to buy more toys.

Are we talking about the JIC or rims here?
To clarify another question:
The springs on the cannister are a motorcycle exhaust trick. Motorcycle slip-on mufflers use springs that apply tension to the joint so that any movement caused by vibration at the joint will have a forced tendency to pull the cannister onto the pipe instead of letting it loosen up.The only problem this brings up is that while keeping the can from falling off, it may screw up your preferred adjustments if you want the cannister to extend further out so the tip may clear the bumper and prevent midpipe mark. This is not a problem with exhausts that are welded together in one piece.

yup we got the video...just have to get the dazzle thingy to upload it to the computer. I was debating buying that or getting a digital camera. Eventhough the price differene would be about 900 for the digital camera or 65 for the dazzle thingy. The video isn't to bad. If i get a chance after class I will pick it up.

Ground Zero- I bought the Spec 90 turbo back from Rishie for my '87 TII project.
The quality was amazing (makes my RB look like doggy do) and the fit was excellent. It uses all the stock mounting points and I installed it easily even w/ the car just on jackstands.
It spools my stock hybrid '89 turbo 60-1 w/ "O" trim exhaust wheel like a leaf in a hurricane.
It has thin piping and no presilence, so it is light, but VERY loud w/ out the tip silencer.

That titanium finish looks pretty tough but the polished finish is like you said "sexy" I run the Apexi N1 single tip and I laugh at it every time I look at it because it so freakin big...!

Some people forget that this is an RX-7 forum. If you think about the ratios of cannister style exhaust to full muffler systems, you oughta realize that this one is not out of place, ie: belonging on a Honda. If you want to make statements like that, try checking out some of the European car forums. I'm sure the M3 and 911 drivers would agree with you if somebody put one of these on their street car.
