JDM Turbo

I don't know how many have posted something like this but here I go.

My turbo's were replaced about 35,000 Miles ago. I hope to use them to the fullest but I know at some point the turbo's are going to die.

Now for my question.

I was thinking for a replacement to put in the JDM turbo's into the FD. A few questions came to play like, would they fit? How much of a power increase would it give? etc.

Any feedback would be great.

The 99' Spec turbos bolt right up. People have reported a little better flow and quicker spool time.

Some I have talked to have also said they have a little better effeciency at higher boost. I know some running them at 15psi and say they are much better than the stockers at that boost level.

There was a post a couple of months ago on the JDM or 99 spec turbos. Lots of good info on that topic. Try searching for that info. BNR also does some good rebuilds. Depends on your budget and what you are looking for performance wise.

Much better than US spec twins...faster spool up lower rpm too...Love them when the sequential control system is working!

Can you run them at a higher boost?? And still have them survive some miles?? Like 15psi in a race, and 10 in street?

Many people do that on stock turbos without problems.

well, I really won't be putting up more boost on my turbo's anyway.

Maybe 12 at max. =P

Yup, that's currently my high boost setting on the Power FC, 0.85 kg/cm^2 or 12 psi. My low boost setting is 0.70 kg/cm^2 or 10 psi. I run 12 psi boost on the street, ready for any stoplight encounter, and 10 psi boost at open track events. For drag racing, I've set the Power FC to 0.95 kg/cm^2, or 13.5 psi. The Power FC is tuned to 1 kg/cm^2 or 14.22 psi. The 0.95 kilo setting usually boost peaks at 0.99 kilo, or 14 psi...just under my 1 kilo Power FC tuning max FWIW, I've seen 1.01 kilo (14.4 psi) boost max in cool weather, so there is some "head room" with the 1 kilo tuning Power FC tuning max...
