jdm front clip???
i was wondering if anyone knows, if i were to install a jdm front clip (new engine, and right hand drive) would i have any problems with performance upgrades? or is the jdm engine and american engine set up the same? because i would think that relocating to the right side, that the engine parts would not all be in the same place. can i still use my performance upgrades that i have already purchased? and will i have to get parts from japan if i do?

If you've got an american-made downpipe, it will interfere with the steering mechanism of a RHD car. Most other aftermarket parts should work without problems. You'll also need the brake cylinders, brake lines, and steering hardware from the Japanese car.
I'm no expert, but I think the right-hand-drive firewall will be different. Good luck with that. The air conditioning and heater lines might run on the other side as well.
[edit: don't forget that the 1996+ RX-7's had some major changes to the engine and ECU. If you try to install a newer engine, don't expect it to be easy.]

Trust me, stick with LHD!
when the steering rake and brake booster are on the same side as teh turbo and the downpipe and stuff.. it's a HUGE paint in the ***..
u should be thankful u have LHD! don't go shoot urself in the foot now...
it's a huge headache moving the ABS, the dash wiring, cutting up the firewall
and in the end ur gonna have a tougher time modding the turbo side of the car (where us rotary ppl do most of our work/upgrades)

personally fi your truly serious about wanting RHD, if you get a FULL clip, which includes dash and frame, get your front cut off and the jdm one welded in by a DAMN GOOD bodyshop. that way you dont' cut no firewalls, or move **** around, then swap your good parts for inplace, like brake booster, abs module etc, or keep it for spare parts. my .02. but then again... in my opinion, is it worth just to have RHD?
up to you, do what your passion desires. Late.

I installed basically everything from a jdm clip on to my 94, just for the sole fact that it was easier then finding every part individually, or waiting for an over priced crashed roller. I kept mine LHD so some parts had to be used from a U.S. version (mostly steering stuff) but overall the engines are almost identical, except for the Jap Spec motors missing the emmisions stuff (which i didnt need or want), in which also makes it easier for a single turbo conversion(if you kept it LHD, that is). All in all, not that hard of a thing to do, and my advice is to keep it LHD!
