Yea, that way the next time he wrecks it and hurts someone they can sue the biz for all its worth and put it under

Opening up a business to that kind of liability is a VERY bad business decision

if the parking garage is private property (most likely) then as far as the law is concerned its no-fault. sue him.

Did you know, when you parallel park on the road, and you get out of your car, if you get hit its your own fault? The legal way to get out of your car is to climb over to the passenger side and use that door to get onto the curb. Yup!

You mean thats the legal way in NY

You guys need to remember he's dealing with state, county, and city laws. They arent Federal and just cause its one way where you guys live doesnt mean it'll work for him.

My fd has been involved in two accidents since I've had it for about a year now. Neither were my fault (one my roommate borrowed it and ran into a cab, but after we settled it he never drove any of my cars again, and the other some fat ugly hoe pulled out in front of me). Even with the two accidents, my insurance premium DROPPED more than 10% after the six month period of those two accidents, because I still technically have a clean driving record. I dunno if your insurance company works the same way, but if it isnt your fault and you did everything you could to avoid damage, it shouldnt hurt you too much out of pocket. Call your insurance company and ask them how this will affect you. I'm only 20 too by the way, just in case you wanted to know.

i just got into an accident about a month ago. i was traveling eastbound right after i turned right at a light then was traveling at about 25-30 when a guy pulled out for a parking driveway to an ihop right in front of me. i gave my statement to my insurance and right after my statement insurance took care of the rest. unless you are at fault, your insurance rates will not go up!!! damage to my fd was estimated to be $5200 -$500 deductable so just today i recieved $4700. if you already admitted to speeding than your screwed, however if not i think you'll be okay. good luck

i dunno man i geuss my insurance sucks, cuz i know last time i got into an accident 2 yrs ago(I was parked at a gas pump pumping when some dude backed into my car..I was like WTF!!..it was an older accord though) my insurance went up and it was 100% proven that it wasnt my fault. I didnt tell anyone i was goin over the speed limit though, that would have just been retarded. My dad took the car down today. Don't think I'll be seeein it again, he's pretty determined to sell it. And like i said, im only 21 so the car is under his name, so he can do whatever he feels like.

hey... in California.. if one person is backing and is in a accident then they are at fault. The other person can also be sited but the majority of the fault lies with the person backing up. So as long as you didnt say to the old man or the police that your speeding then I say sue the guy..

its back B$tches!!!!!!!!!!! The FD has been dug up from its grave and is alive and roaring. It was actually not in a grave, only simple minded me thought so.
Here's the deal: My dad is a smart man, to say the least! he has put me through 5 months of torture of only being able to walk all summer. Took me and still takes me about 30-40min to walk to school everyday. I was working at school during the summer so it was grand to be able to walk like 2 hrs everyday in the +100 degree weather. Turns out, it was all a scam to teach me a lesson. And a lesson I did learn...to be uber responsible with the car and not drive it like its a race all the time. I was an idiot!!!
Soooo, I'm probably going to get it back from ATL in like 2 months. I haven't seen it yet but dad tells me that it is more than fixed. Like a new radiator, def. new larger rims w/ Pirelli P-ZERo Neros (he loves sayin that), and a new front air dam of some kind. i was like what!!!! he told me this weekend and I was speechless for quite some time. First to find out my RX is okay and then to find out that he's been adding stuff to it, I was like man you are the best dad EVER!! Of course now he's telling me he is broke and trying to make me feel bad on another level (long-story with my pops).
Anyways, this is unbelievable. Just wanted to let all you guys now. Also, apparently the insurance covered all of the costs, but they did cancel my full-coverage; instead allowing me liability until I can prove to them that I am a good driver.
Peace out!!!

That's really good news. But I think you should've sued the guy backing out. Even though you were speeding, it was still his fault.

Tim, I hope you don't sell the car. No problem with dad coming up to get the car and getting it fixed. But instead of selling it, put it in the garage, or in the shed, or covered out back, but keep it until you graduate or until you get a part time job, if you don't have one. If you have or get a part time job, start sending your paycheck to dad to help pay for the insurance and/or the fixes if the insurance dosesn't cover it all.

Put the car in his name if you have too, or let the registration lapse, store it, and ask him to start it up and let it run occasionally while your at school. Look at all the possibilities before you sell.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Steve

will do..will do..i cant wait to see the thing. The last image in my head is of some random bit of car (either his or mine) flying in front and over the car; and the car limping on its front left side with pierced tires and wheels. Oh the torture the car went through that day...never again.

Well it seems as if he has added a set of efini turbos too!! I had 110K miles on the old ones and my boost pattern was perfect but they were leaking a little oil. So I geuss he wanted to get rid of any problems. He's pickin up th car sometime the end of this week and he's going break in the turbos before he hands it over. Make sure everything is workin as it should, and if not take it back to Charlie at Mazcare and see what he has to say about it since he's been helpin us with the car for over 2 years now.

Holy ****, those guys at mazcare are insanely expensive too. I have seen many receipts from that place......your dad dropped some major cash on your car.

I agree, but I will say that since we have been coming to him for like everything he has lowered his prices a bit for us (down to normal I geuss), and whenever we need/want to bring it in, we can, and he kinda lets us use space there to work on it and ask him anythign if we need it. Which sounds reasonable since we've let him do most of the major work on my car.

Does your dad expect you to pay him back for the turbo's or is he going to just pay for it? Either way, thats cool of him to make sure your car is running right.
