For a fairly thorough discussion of pros and cons of different intercoolers for the 3rd gen RX, check out this site: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/intercoolers.html

What about this Apexi Delta Fin core used in their FMIC? I've read this core was superior? Any details?

ttb,

yep, I was asking you...

From what I've read thus far...it seems we road racers are stuck with SMIC, HMIC, or V-mount.

SMIC seems to be a good solution, and has worked for many FD road racers.

Chuck Huang's HMIC and V-mount concepts are fairly new to the FD scene, at least here in the USA... Sadly I NEED my A/C, so V-mount is out.

The choices left for road racers are either SMIC or HMIC.

Apparently Chuck's HMIC Spearco core flows MUCH more air volume than Kevin's ASP large IC core--935 cubic feet per minute with Chuck's core, and 750 cfm for Kevin's...

There's a thorough discussion of whether the HMIC actually works like an SMIC, or works BETTER than an SMIC when the HMIC is used with a vented hood and HMIC outlet duct...
