Drove my car again last night and the air temps were definitely higher, no question about it. Again, I suspect it could be reaching boost more quickly and my "testing" could play a part, but they are certainly higher and not lower at all!

My question is what are your "A" and "B" scenarios, your before and after? OK, after is obviously with the Al piping...were there any other mods? How about ambient temps...were they roughly the same? And finally....when you measured an increase of 7C, what exactly were you doing at the time...idling, or cruising, or under boost, and if the latter was it warmed up the same way?

What I'm getting at is that there are a LOT of variables involved, and while your test may be perfectly valid, it is impossible to know without more info.

Part of my "real job" involves debunking invalid test scenarios, so if I seem **** about it its just my conditioning!

I agree that there are alot of variable in testing....

If Brent wouldn't mind busting his knuckles and placing the plastic pipes back on he could do another A/B comparision in the same temperature conditions.

However, that lower pipe is a PITA to install, thats why I suggested the heat wrap....that way, at least Brent will have some idea if the ceramic coating may help....

Brent, if you want me to ride shotgun in the passenger seat to check temps and boost levels let me know....I'm curious if ceramic coating produces a noticable benefit.

Would you be able to get your aluminum intake pipes sprayed with JetHot? I know that it's not great for show purposes, but I know that it works incredibly well at keeping extra heat out of the engine compartment when your DP is sprayed with it. And it's not all that expensive to have done either. Just a thought that you might wanna think about. Laterz.

I would like to point couple of things out.. SS vs. AL.. damn.. i dont think there is that much difference.. If so its so minor and if heat is your concern, put the plastics back on.. as we all know, the plastic tubes retain less heat than SS.. or AL.. And far as SS vs AL, I have heard from people about how shitty the GB pipings were and its not as well polished as SS piping.. etc .. etc.. It was only 100 bucks shipped.. at that time, it was the lowest on the market.. now, after those who refused to sell to us at that price..except Gotham, Now those who said, "No way, its below our price", sells them at 100 shipped.
So, quality isn't the best.. but you know, I look at most people's engine bay, and only maybe 2 or 3 people out of 40 or so FD's that i seen have polished goods (uim, ic, throttle, lim, etc) as good as these pipes..

And if you want to complain about performance.. Prove to us that SS intake will do better.. or Plastic OEM piping will do better.. because there arent too many other options, unless you go custom.. And please do a more scientific testing.. measure the ambion temp, engine temp, air flow, speed, etc, etc.. all these are variables that will affect the temp.. and especially when we are talking about few degrees..
I wanted these knowing that straighter piping is better than stock.. and also, it looks better with my polished goods..

I must have missed this...you had a group buy on these things? I don't suppose the pipes currently on Ebay are from this? They appear to be selling them with a pair of stainless steel filters. The weird thing is the auction shows two pictures, one of a pair of pipes with filters and some hose clamps. The "installed" picture looks a hell of a lot like the Blitz intake (in fact I'm pretty sure it IS the Blitz intake) with the pipes, but the guy told me it was all included when I emailed him. (He also told me the two pics were of identical items, so...)

Yeah, I noticed that too. The ebay guy is full of poop--those are the blitz filters in one pic. The group buy happened while I was out here. The pipes are installed on my rex, but I haven't seen them in person. If you'd like to see a pic search under my username for "FMR"

Well, I think Steve K. might still honor the group buy.. Opps.. this thread might get shut down.. anyhow, he probably would still sell them at GB pricing.. Call and ask him about "herblenny's GB"..

The thing about Gotham vs. others is that Gotham will include the right clamps.. Other ebay sellers clamps will not fit.. also when you include shipping and all its about the same.. i would prefer helping Steve than some other joker who lyed and told me 100 shipped is BELOW whole sale price which they get it for..

Also, the one with Blitz intake.. he's not including those.. And other cheap intake filters aren't worth damn.. and most of those cheap filters might harm your car than benefit.. Over time, they tend to soften up and filtering material tends to break apart.. Go with more reputable intake filters, ie Blitz, KN, Apexi, etc.

Does Blitz sell their filters individually? All the sies I've seen only sell the complete set-up for about 350.00.

I think they do sell the filters seperate.. but you would need an adaptor.. The opening is like 4 inches..

Are you looking for a set??
I might be selling mine.. I'm going front mount and I don't think its going to fit..

My car has a Blizt intake set-up, but it has K&N filters on it right now. I'm looking to buy Blitz filters. PM me with your items for sale. Thanks.
