Installing JDM transmission tommorow, sensors identical?

Do I need to move any sensors over or is it plug & play?

It is plug and play. All the sensors are the same. The other trick is disconnecting it from the flywheel. Check the service manual on how to release the fork. A large screwdriver / small pry bar will help. Just be careful when you re-connect the wires, as they sometimes get brittle. One of my friends made a joke that since it's from overseas, and they drive on the other side, 1st gear will be where 5th is. That is not the case. Good luck!

Yes, they are indenitical. Only difference is internal - a shorter 5th gear ratio

Sorry to butt in here...

Does the shorter 5h gear ratio mean you can go faster without the rpms being as high??

No, it's the opposite.

Taller gear=higher top speed

Shorter gear= better acceleration

Is it a dramatic difference? Not that I have ever gotten to 180... but at 140 I was up around 6500-7000 rpms... would I be closer to redline now with the change in ratio? Just curious...

yeah you should be closer to redline , you'll have a lesser topspeed, so it only makes sense

Also means worse fuel mileage.

not if you compliment it with a different FD ratio :p

but then I guess that would kinda eliminate the point

Anyone know what the gear ratio is on that 5th gear? The US tranny is 4th 1.00 and 5th .71.

Honestly... I find that I usually stay in 4th anyway, because in 5th at 70 my rpms are almost too low, so I'm always down sifting unless I'm cruising at 90.

Hey Boost... hope you don't mind me resurrecting this thread...

I just purchased a 95 JDM tranny... it comes with the sensors and wires... but that's it. Is there anythign else I need to purchase to complete the install? Seals? Fluid of course... any recommendations? Much appreciated!
