Info on Scoot 4 rotor conversion...costs?
Was interested in having my car modified by Scoot Sports. No body work, just engine, tyranny, etc....4 rotor conversion. Does anyone have any info in regards to the costs, or do they even provide this service? Thanks! If someone has an email address or phone# to Scoot Sports in Japan, that'll be awesome.

I just want you to know, that for a 3 rotor with all the goodies it is 30k from pettit. A 3 rotor actually came stock in a production car, a long block last time I checked was about 3-4k in good shape. A 4 rotor even when built by yourself is going to cost 4 times that. Hell the 4 rotor e-shaft alone is something around 5k.
Basically if you have 70k+ to dump into your beloved Mazda maybe this is a viable option, otherwise it is simply dreaming. Shipping would cost thousands and Scoot's 4 rotor was simply the shop's demo car. Something they can flaunt, I doubt they had any intentions of putting together a kit to do the swap. If you really want Scoot to do it, prepare to get ripped off such an assload it isn't even funny.

PM Herblenny. He knows a guy/shop that actually has and works on 4-rotor engines (one of the only shops in the US, at that). The cost of the engine is insane tho...but if you have a Ferrari, it can't be too bad...

There is a shop in San Diego that has done a number of 3 rotor conversions and has been "working on" a 4 rotor conversion for years now... I don't know their progress.
A 4 would make the FD way too nose heavy. I guess it might make an ok drag racing car if you have the powertrain to support it. Otherwise... pretty useless

wow....I can't believe how bitter you guys are.....All I did was ask a simple question about a 4 rotor conversion, and I get an in depth analysis of why I have a ferrari? I didn't even mention it, until one of you suggested that I go and buy a ferrari. You guys are truly pathetic. Oh, and so what if I have a rx-7 next to a ferrari. Haven't u considered the possibility that I might have had the Rx-7 BEFORE I bought the Ferrari and decided to keep both cars? You rx-7 owners should be flattered that I would hold the FD in such high regards. What is wrong with you people? Bunch of haters....

on a serious note... a stock 20b or a v8 will have more HP than you could probably manage as it is, and room to keep improving if you want to keep going. however, the v8 has the nice advantage of being NA.... i guess the ONLY reason to EVER consider a 4 rotor would be if yu were set of having an extreemly fast NA rotary.
one of the main problems with 4 rotor setups is the design of the e-shaft... im wondering if scoot has a 3 piece or 2 piece e-shaft... im still not sure how one would assemble the engine if it was a 2 piece shaft (just watch a video of a 13b rebuild, and notice how you have to tilt the second rotor to get it over the eshaft, and you'll understand why a 2 piece shaft would be a problem).
but, w/ a 3piece e-shaft id think you'd be set. anyone know the torque/HP specs on the scoot 4 rotor? it uses 12a rotors/housings if om not mistaken. anyway, if you could have a 3 piece shaft built, you should be able to use stock mazda parts for the rest of the block... (well except for a counterweight). so youd have to get a 3 piece e-shaft made, counterweight made, some long *** tentioning bolts, oil pan made, coustom LIM, coustom UIM, coustom exhaust manifold, and a coustom subframe. and since you dont want to add 2 MORE rotors infront of your steering rack (which you will cause bumpsteer by moving it) you will have to cut into the firewall. so now youre in the firewall... well you might as well buy a new tranny cause youre gonna break the FD one... so have a coustom bellhousing made, and relocate your shifter. then make a coustom driveshaft, connected to your coustom diff. setup (cause you'll break that too). hmm... get some bigger brakes, and some wide *** tires, and figure out how to cool your rotary furnace. done.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like quite the undertaking. There was an article about the scoot 4 rotor in a japanese magazine called Autoworks, Feb. 2005 issue, about 10 pages with detailed pictures of the scoot car. I tried to buy a copy but it was sold out...

your best bet is to do it your self if you dont want to do that then get a 20b swap done, a good sized single can make 600rwhp on a 20b.

We're bitter because you could have searched around the site before you posted to find your answers. I'll be more then happy to appoligize if you can post a pic of your Ferrari next to your Rx-7 though. If you insist on info though, I think there is like one place in the U.S. that does 4 rotors and there a couple in AUS. and Japan. Although it can be done, just not very practicle. If somethings breaks on it (wich is very likley) it will cost an arm and a leg to replace and what not. If you can go ahead with this and what not, more power to you and it would be wicked as hell!! I have often thought of doing this myself at my machine shop, but it still wouldn't be practicle. I might one day for ***** and giggles, but not in the near future.

Thanks RX7WEE, I've considered the 20b swap and have read articles about both the Pettit conversion and a Peter Farrell conversion a while back. I think the Peter Farrell version had the engine mounted behind the firewall, so the transmission had to be modified and moved further to the rear also. It was a more exotic setup. But after seeing videos of the 4 rotor scoot car....I just had to find out more info about it. That engine just sounds incredible!!!

TT RX 7...I did search around the site, and all I could find were vague answers here and there, some videos/pics....But nothing Specific and concrete, that is why I started a new thread......here are some pics.....now where's my apology???
