Is this important?

Is the crosss brace located directly behind the radiator required if running an upper strut tie bar? I'm wondering because it's very thin and as of now I have nothing that needs to be bolted to it (my Greddy SMIC used to be). I'd liek to get rid of it if it doesn't add a significant amoutn of rigidity.

If you guys determine it is needed I plan to replace it with a piece of aluminum angle.

Thanks for the help.

That piece is not a brace. On a stock car it serves as the spot where the intake box, battery and intercooler mount. If you don't need it you can remove it.

That little support piece is just to support the stock IC, I believe, and doesn't add any structural rigidity to the front end.
