IMO best noticible Mod for FD3S.

For all you guys thinking of Midpipe.
Want to share my experience n evaluation with
you guys...

I just got my Midpipe installed(SS 3"SR Midpipe)
INitially when I was thinking of putting on a midpipe,
i had reservations of doing the Mod. Considering
noise levels and boost spikes and creep.

But after the install and one drive.. let me just say
O M G. Best mod with very noticible effect.
Car responds better, runs better and Boy can
you feel the POWER DIFFERNCE.

My stock cat has 125K miles on it.
After taking it off, you can see stuff falling
out of it. basically it was probably clogged up.
restricting flow, although i had dp and cb already.
The mainstock cat weighs a staggering IMO a good
40-50lbs. Midpipe maybe 8lbs if that.. Not only that
The Maincat gets hot and Stays HOT for a long time.
Which can't be good.. Cat was off the car for about 40 minutes and it was still sizzling HOT.. I wrapped it
up in a towel (saving justincase) put in the car drove
to work, another 20minutes.. the Maincat was still
sizzling hot enough to start burning my towel..

as for Noise, car doesn't sound to much different (significant) louder in the car. Actually IMO the car
sounds the same.. (inside the car).. I dont know
how loud it maybe behind or outside the car.
BUT who cares about them??? i don't...

So if you are on the fence about Midpipe,
Do it, you wont regret it.. BTW keep in mind
still need to upgrade ecu before this mod...

Is your PFC tuned? Or are you using base maps? If in fact it is tuned, who did the tuning...?

anyone else concerned about possibly shooting flames and melting your rear bumper with a dp, mp, and exhaust? just wondering, cause this is probably the only thing holding me back from mp heaven. Screw emissions!!

Dropped 9/10ths off my 1/4th mile time.

Downside. No way to regulate boost, flames, stinky exhaust, blown engines etc....

Oh I forgot to add the kicker with a white car........
Carbon build up on the bumper. Give it a week and you will be scratching your head. The whole right side of my bumper turns a yellow hue. Just grab some cleaner wax, that will take that crap right off.

I have been getting that carbon build up
on the rear bumper even before I had
a DP. I just use any kind of cleaner to get it
off, like simple green, catrol cleaner, armor all,
basically anything, since i am not particularly
concerned about the paint.

So with a Midpipe, the cat back gets hot enough to
melt the bumper???

Yea after I get some Runs at the track with my current
set up, then gonna go Non Sequential.

Downside. No way to regulate boost, flames, stinky exhaust, blown engines etc....

to answer Ryan95-
Thats what the PFC is for.. to regulate boost, and protect from blown engines. As for smell and fumes
it still the same to me. Flames?? i would like me some flames = )

Most noticeable from the outside, the wheels.

Most noticeable from stock? PFC...smoothed the car out... no more transition problems.

Most noticeable recent mod'ed? FMIC was huge improvement but the HKS TwinPower made the most "butt-meter" improvements.

kinetik fd3s, absolutely dangerous..... The car won't live long.... If you do it, you damn well better have an a/f meter w/ new o2 sensor and boost gauge and the pellets changed in the wastegate. I have a power fc w/ dp and cb and still see crazy spikes. I'm installing my mp this week but only after definately getting around the boost creep problem w/ pellets for the wastegate and duty cycle adjustments.... Hopefully I will not run into any fuel cut issues....
