IC Cores APEXI Vs SPEARCO??
I am considering a couple of different front mount IC's. I was thinking about an XS engineering FMIC but it's been discontinued. Seeing that I have a M2 intake I am limited to what FMIC I can get.
One has a Spearco core the other has a Skyline GTR core, any opinions on which might be superior?
RX7 Fashion FMIC w/ Apexi Skyline GTR Core 24"x10.5"x3"
OR
Williams FMIC w/ Spearco core 24"x8"x3.5"
Thanks for the advice!

I personally don't like the plate and fin design of the spearco. But they do work. The APEX'i is a good core but if you ever get a dent in the damn thing it is visible as hell.
I like tube and fin cores like what HKS, GReddy, Blitz and XS use. They "supposedly" are more efficient.

I'm looking for a FMIC too, I had the same questions. I also want to find a front end for my car that I can get and have the majority of the FMIC showing to get airflow across it. The stock front end would only leave about half of the IC exposed. I've heard alot of good stuff about the Spearco cores, but not much from the Rex owners.

I have the apexi... Its a better core for the rx7 for 2 reasons...
1. It has rows that allow for pure flow so their is less pressure drop..Alot less,,Its been proven
2. It allows more air to flow though it .So the radiator is fed cooler air and thus cools your car better!

I'm getting a large here soon...they're not cheap, but I like that SCC tested them and there are quantifiable improvements over stock.
They don't sell a Front Mount.

M2 sells two stock mount ICs, the medium and the large. Check 'em out at www.M2performance.com

GTR Apex Core
I called Mike from Hayes (that new I guy who know's everything about 3rd gen I was telling you about a while ago) anyway, he's dyno tuned a FD with both, and the Apex worked much better. Anyway, just my 2 cents. Oh yeah, if you really want to get the trick one, you order the Apex-I RACE Core for the R34 GTR and have the sides fab'd to fit your FD. IT'S HUGE. I'll try and get a price and specs tomorrow.

well, the good thing about the Apex is the Detla-Flow fins. which supposedly let more air through the core to the radiator. this has not yet been proven, but thats what they claim.
on the other hand, all the racers like Lisa Kubo, Steph Pepadakis, Abel, and Ray all run a spearco core.
