I need to get my turbos rebuilt

Alright...

A large majority of the people I've spoken with tell me that, if the turbo housings are cracked your f'ed and there is no way to fix them...

Afew people on the other hand I've spoken to, claim they can fix the cracks in the turbo housings.

The fact is... I really dont care, as long as it functions atleast 80% and dosent end up over heating my engine or anything serious like that then I'll just get my stocks rebuilt. I cant afford to go single and really dont want the hassle at the moment, just wana get my car rolling again... sooo, where is the best place to get turbos rebuilt??

BNR??? Who has bought or had their turbos worked on by BI-State???

Thanks,
Greg

Resource mentioned that there are a few people with Bi-State rebuilt turbos. I believe Meogirl had her's rebuilt by them not too long ago.

However, personally, I would go with BNR's and upgrade to a Stage 2 (staying sequential). You should call and talk to Brian (or whoever is going to rebuild them) about the condition of your turbos and a rebuild.

Yes we rebuild them and upgrade them. We've been rebuilding turbos for 10 years and know what works and what doesn't. All of our rebuilds include manifold repair if there are cracks. We offer basic rebuilds from 700 to 400+ upgraded twins for 1599. If you don't want the full upgrade then we can just clip the wheels for 175.

We offer a 1 year/15K warranty.

I've only heard problems with their Stage 3 package (which apparently have been worked out). I guess people are hot over them because they have seen dyno charts and read testimonials of people actually using them.

As long as I have been on this forum, they are they only company I have seen positive feedback from on rebuilt turbos. Most other threads have people complaining about poorly rebuilt turbos from many other companies.

I would love to start hearing more about Bi-State (from someone who doesn't work there) and see some numbers on their upgraded twin packages.

Maztech of Melbourne (australia) are releasing a single turbo package for our cars!! Manifold and turbo (not sure what 1) will be available for around $2400 AUD.

That will get most people into the 11 second bracket !

I dont see why you americans pay so much for your products. It may be time to checkout aussie products.

I am about to get my engine rebuilt and in the future I want to go single...However, I am thinking about getting my stockers rebuilt for the time being. I think I am going to try Bi-State just because they are new and since I probably wont stay with the twins, it's worth a shot giving them a chance I think.

yeah...i gave three different rebuilders a try...i thought it would be worth it every time. fact is...it wasnt...i got the shaft twice and did not get a great set until i put the money down and went m2. matter of fact the second place that rebuilt my twins offered a six month warrantee....of course the claimed their unbalanced crap was all my fault...it wasnt...and rather than fight I just got the ball bearing garretts. i doubt Id have gotten a dime out of them even if I did fight.

these places with junk turbos were turbo city (dumped oil everywhere and smoked like a ****) and Performance Techniques (sounded like a dentist drill and leaked everywhere).

both bnr and m2 have proven sets....as does TEC out of colorado.

i look forward to seeing dyno sheets from resource...

excatly its not that BNR and BI are superior, but its more like everyone else doesnt know how to rebuild the twin turbos properly.

I agree Johnny.

I have personally seen 3 bad sets of BNR turbos. The first two were Stage 1s with BIG cracks in the manifold and the 3rd set were Stage 3s. They were a month old and the secondary was just puking oil. I just saw the Stage 3s two weeks ago. I have hesitated to say anything before now because they weren't my turbos and I don't know if Bryan dealt with it or not.

I really don't understand all the hype about Bi-State. None of us have seen any proof that their rebuilds are better than anyone else. Only four people are running them and only for a short time. Big deal. It proves nothing. I also think it's funny when companies sell "upgraded" turbos and have absolutely no proof -- not even a single dyno sheet. That last comment is not solely directed at Bi-State since NONE of the turbo "upgraders" even have a dyno sheet except for Stephen's (SPOauto). Oh, and Artguy (sorry Jason).

interesting note on bnrs sets....im surprised there is not more noise about those issues. I appreciate people being honest with what they have seen. thanks ryn.

bistate hype...resource apparently worked out a deal with the forums to advertise on here...he has been hyping them and we have been asking for proof to back up his statements. as of yet none has been given.

there are a couple dyno sheets for the m2 sets....docchewbacca also posted his conservative sheets a while back. there arent many m2 sets on the market to be honest.

the bnrs are going everywhere...it would be interesting to see if anyone else posts some sheets...

We'll eventually get some dyno sheets up when our customer is ready to turn the boost up. Not sure how soon that will be though, it's not my car.

BTW Spoolage, your newly rebuilt turbos will be in the mail tommorow.

Talk soon..

There was just a thread on rebuilt turbos within the last couple of days. In my experience here, rebuilding the stock turbos is pointless. Just better to go with a low mileage used set or get new ones. BNR only makes upgrades.

As far as Bi-State, bwahaha, that's FUNNY! Bi-State was ONE of the names a certain unsavory shop operated under....I think their last name was DaVinci but it's hard to tell....they never had any upgraded turbos.
