i hate my life--crashed FD
yup so last nite my worst fear becomes reality. came around a corner and had to split second dodge a huge pothole and overcorrected when my rear slid out and sideswiped a parked car. for all the dam damage and headache, i shoulda hit the dam pothole. scraped down the whole drivers side of my car and crumpled the rear fender.
on a positive note their is no structural damage that i can see of, just body damage. i assesed it and realized that i can fix everything except for the rear fender. its pretty crumpled, but the door sill is still fine. This car has extremely low mileage and is/was in amazing shape so im gonna fix it.
just need some info if its doable, turbojeff i know your out their somewhere.

Sorry about your accident
Ive seen (and fixed) much worse damage...will cost a bit to put right, but its totally repairable. Just get it checked out to make sure nothing structural has been affected.

"overcorrected" how fast were u going?
I think there is more damage there, then that JDM is worth.

Dude, dont get down on yourself. As you get older you will learn it is just a car. Yes we are passionate about our cars but dont beat yourself up over it. You walked away from it and I promise there are plenty of fds left out there to scoop up that need good homes. That car is fixable but it will likely be totaled if the damage is above $5k which is looks like it will be close to that.

If you can find the parts used it shouldn' cost too much to fix.
I could sell you the rear quarter and the door cheap but shipping to Canada would not be practical. I even have them in VR
Best of luck getting her back on the road

You'll be surprised what the body shops can do these days.
My advice would be to just take a few days away from it.
Grin and Bear it.
Get a few estimates. I've seen a lot of people in the FD Section selling rollers and parts. So I'm sure you'll come out fine when it's all said and done.
I'm glad you were'nt hurt. That's what matters.

Replacement quarter panels aren't that expensive even from Mazda. To fix it properly you'll have to have the old one cut out and the new one welded in, replace the door (or door skin) and get it repainted. You're looking at about $4-6k USD in labor there, but it's not the end of the world.

ya i got everything apart and i actually have a spare door so thats ok. its more the rear quarter and such that im worried about. theres no structual damage anywhere and the car is still driveable(not that i would but i could if i wanted too)
time to get some help on the rear quarter.

a couple days ago the minister of transport in quebec issued notice to inspection centers to remove all incoming rhd vehicles, which they are to inspect, from the road.
This came with zero public notice, discussion, or as yet, justifying data.
This 'temporary' ban is in effect for 180 days. To allow for assessment of 'impact on public safety'. Quebec is being guinea pigged to test public reaction to unjustified nation-wide banning of all RHD vehicles (publicly owned only, government owned RHD are somehow exempt. I guess government rhd is much safer than public rhd? the hell?)
The notice states that currently registered cars are not banned, However if anybody gets a nice random VI, they're SOL.

i saw that, i believe thats for quebec only. also i could technically still drive my car as nothing is unsafe or falling off. also i thought that since my car has bin in canada for awhile now and has passed all inspections and is 100% legal and insured - they cant do much.
