I had smoke coming from my steering column!!
I haven't been driving my car lately because my starter selenoid is bad,and I have to start my car by jumping the contact points at the selenoid with a screwdriver. I've been doing this for about three weeks, waiting for my new starter.Well the incident happened when i went to the bank, and set my turbo timer for ten minutes, hoping that i would be out before my car shut off, cause it doesn't start right away jumping it at the selenoid.Well when i came out of the bank car was off,I was probably longer then 10 min,but when i got back in my car,i stuck the key in the ignition and turned it to the on postion, and i had that smell of electrical melting, and there it was,a small stream of smoke from the steering column. My turbo timer is mounted on the steering column also.i started up the car and no problem for rest of that day,but the next day,it did it again, but no smoke.Any ideas!
