I picked up a very clean one for 8k, car could not pass smog due to check engine light and was told by a mechanic that his cat was missing so he paid $500 for an illegal smog and sold it to me when his registration was about to expire.
Turns out the mechanic told him his PRECAT was missing, in its place a nice very new looking downpipe and the check engine light was due to an o2 sensor with a damaged wire. Car passes smog easily with flying colors now, hahaha.

I paid 4500 for mine. Stock except for wheels and reliability mods, with a PFS rebuild in it. The guy got it stuck in between 5th and reverse, and for some reason had grounded the fuel pump relay wire so it ran terrible. Fixed that stuff and it runs good, a few little interior pieces and it will be a pretty good FD. Not bad for less than 5k total investment, although I will have another $5k+ in it by this time next year after ECU/turbo/suspension/etc.

I got mine from a bloke at work who couldn't afford to run the fuel costs any more and had a wedding to pay for. He wanted £5000 (English Pounds) but I got it for £4600. At the time a decent R1 FD in England would have cost at least £8000. He knew nothing about the car, he'd only bought it cos he liked the look. Put new brakes and a hub bearing on it and it was perfect mecahincally, just needed paint.
When I was going through the paperwork that came with it, I found a recipt for the engine rebuild he'd had done four months before I bought it. It had gone big style, apex seals through the turbo, so had been a complete rebuild of motor and turbo packs etc. Cost? £5800. So, basically he paid me £800 to take the engine off his hands, and threw in the car for free! Superb!
Car ran without any major faults for over a year before I crashed the f*** out of it in the rain one night...

I got my red beast about 4 months ago for 8,500. She is a 94 with 74K and had a HKS downpipe, mid and 5 in carbon exhaust. Also the apexi double headed intakes and the Power FC.The car needed a new master because the brakes were locking up and also a tranny. I have spent on her so far about 1200 and she is running perfect.
I wish i could find an FD for 500 bucks ;-)

I paid $0.00.
My dad and his business partner import FD's from Japan. They bought my car online before flying over to inspect the 15-odd cars they had purchased online.
When they got over there, 14 of the 15 cars were manuals. Mine turned out to be an automatic. But they had listed it in error as a manual. They packed it up and shipped it back with the rest of the cars, and when the containers arrived here, they didnt want the automatic car. They were going to strip it for parts, but I said I would take it.
Long story short, Black 1992 RHD JDM Type-S with Advan SA3R 18" wheels, 4 new tires, 80,000km original mileage and apexi exhaust and Abflug bodykit and full Tein RA coilovers for nada, nothing. Just put fuel in it, air in the tires and go.
Unless someone actually paid you to take an FD, thats as cheap as it gets
