"i found my FD for cheap" stories!?
Lately, I've been hearing about kids in the local area finding 3rd gens for ridiculously cheap prices. Some guy found his single turbo FD (which just dyno'd at around 400hp) for only $500... he said no one knew what it was so he threw some cash at it, and it was his.
I'm looking to buy one by next summer and I'm hoping to find some inspiration
These cars are hard to come by, and even harder to find under $5k.
lets hear some lucky finds!

I got mine for $3200 it was crashed, but had a brand new street ported motor and a bunch of other upgrades in the car (electronic boost controller, power fc w/commander, clutch, rear and trans brace, fmic, fuel system, greddy 3.5" catback, and some other stuff that was all only about 1 month old).
a friend of mine did the body and I did the mechanicals' and it's all good now.

I prefer to keep my stories to myself However, it is rare to find a decent fd period these days. They are getting rougher and rougher by the minute. Rarely do I find one in decent shape anymore. Most fds from here on out require paint/body work, interior restorations, bushings, and new wiring harnesses. Most $5k fds will turn into $13-15k fds quickly if you want anything ohter than a beater car.

Not as "cheap" as your guys deals... but I found my FD for $9k in Portland last year. It WAS in great shape, no paint/body damage. But I thought it would be a good idea to replace the engine... which turned into a "go non-seq" which turned into "go single" and that 9k FD quickly turned into a 25k FD

Best deal I came across was a super clean 94 Chaste White Base with an Auto and ~75k miles for $8500. This was about 3 years ago in California. It was everything I was looking for at the time, but I had two cars and no room for a third. Still kicking myself.
I paid $2800 for my CYM but it needed A LOT of work.

well i traded a car i had lowered the price to 7300 on to get my fd, was a 2001 automatic transamwith 75K miles , no one wanted it i wasnt getting any calls at all!! kept lowering price
at end of ad i put " or would trade for an 93-95 rx7" thinking yeah right in my dreams! what do u know thats the only call i got!
ended up getting a 93 vr touring with 104K on it with 17K on a rebuilt engine, about 1000 in brand new aftermarket parts. car had bad turbochargers, and the wiring harness needed some rewraping of a few brittle wires. got the guy to add 1000 cash ontop of the car since it didnt run.
so i finally got my dream car!
in short i got a decent condition 93 touring with bad turbos for 6300

I got mine 4 years ago for $8500 with only ~2k miles on a PFS-installed reman with a bunch of parts (extra wheels/tires, etc.). The receipt for all the motor work was $4500 so I think I got a pretty good deal. Body was perfect, everything worked fine, but needed basic maint. and the paint was faded.
The day I brought it home:

Got mine for $8000 from a guy in El Paso TX. its a 95 with about 12k in aftermarket parts. I was happy as hell when I found that and so far all of my friends hate me for finding one that cheap. Apparently not as cheap as other people have found theirs though lol.

Here's mine:
Picked it up for $1200. Sold all the parts (a few still for sale, see below, haha) and paid for the car and then some. The FD has always been the dream car I could see myself obtaining and I could not turn it down. This will be an expensive build but it will be the way I want it to be from the ground up.
