Bushings make a big difference.

Motor mounts and Diff mounts help tremendously with the drivetrain movement.

Suspension bushings -especially those on the front control arms made a big improvement on my car with respect to turn in, stability under braking and general feel through the steering wheel. Upper shock mounts again made a huge difference in decreasing the NVH felt from regular driving. The rear "Pillow Ball" bushings clunk after some use and I've replaced them also and the car sounds much better.

Basically all of the rubber components on my car have been replaced or will be replaced by the end of today. Car is heading to the shop in a few minutes. Also getting a new gas tank on the baffles on mine have broken loose are making loud noises.

did u use some sort of sealant on the bolts when u reinstalled the mount?
if not i would try that. even when using the oil pan brace adam uses the mazda sealant on the motor mount bolts

My daily driver E39 540i/6 and I see what you talking about.

In 2 words - BMW is not Mazda.

FD's soundproofing is what? No soundproofing. I hear every piece of sand hitting underbody when I drive FD. I have fatmat in doors and it helped a little. My average sound system that sounds great in garage does not have enough juice when I'm driving.

I did replace all pillowballs and rear toe link bushings. New adjustable koni's and I left everything stock to not introduce additional stiffness/vibration. Car plenty stiff as is. It just needs new parts.

Car drives properly. No clunks, no noises. But it's not anywhere close to how BMW drives. You need to like FD for it's "wildness" also I get headache after driving it for 2-3 days. I think about soundproofing hatch. But all this stuff is kind of pointless. Why try to change what it meant to be?

I seriosly suggest against aftermarket suspension bushings unless this is track car. OEM stuff very expensive but worth it. I regret that I went with Koni's

noise is a problem? simple solution: wear earplugs, most people on here have a fairly loud aftermarket exhaust fitted anyway and it's a good idea to protect your hearing...the car is far more enjoyable with them
