I would just go with a low dose to begin with, and then up it by a couple of ounces each time until it passes.

If you are putting in a gallon with a full tank that's a really high concentration - 1 part in 20! At that concentration I would be concerned with stripping oil from the engine internals or who knows what else.

I guess you have to weigh the expense, time and hassle of re-testing versus trashing an engine.
If you do it a couple of ounces at a time you should be able to gauge when you will pass, and that's all you want to do - just pass and get the hell out.
If you are determined to do it in one day I would probably visit a couple of different testing stations if convenient just for stealthiness.

I would not be surprised if they found an extremely high level (and they will) they might think something funny is going on and get real pissy.

It's not nice to fool Mother Nature.

Stripping oil from engine internals? It's only going through the combustion chambers and exhaust. At 20:1, it shouldn't affect the o-rings very much. I would think 1 gallon would be safe. But that is an educated guess!

Disclaimer: If you do whatever I recommend below and blow up your engine - too bad Gonzo!

well, if the car won't go into boost, it probably will be safe.

I read it from some pervious post says that person put 1 gallon in 5 gallon gas!!!! I almost do the same.

Ok, not "internals" like the eccentric shaft, rotor bearings, etc. My bad - BUT:

Our little beast is oil injected, and needs it for protection from metal to metal contact throughout the entire 4 stroke cycle. That's exactly why many tuners and engine builders recommend putting in 4 oz. synthetic 2 stroke with every tankful - for extra protection from wear. I've heard a 30% increase in engine life doing this. I do it religiously. It was recommended to me by a guy who has made a living working on rotaries for 30 years. Hopefully he knows what he is doing by now.

Oil and solvents together at the same time?

Additional disclaimer: I am not a petroleum chemist, although I do mix a mean martini!

Gasoline is a solvent Although it lubricates better than methanol, and doesn't suck up water. Gasoline is a crappy lubricant compared to oil, though. This is my reasoning for thinking that a little MeOH won't hurt the engine, as far as lubrication.

Two stroke oil in the gas definitely won't hurt. So you know a guy who's been working on rotaries for 30 years? Dang, thats right around when they started to be commercially used, right? He's practically a pioneer

Yep, he has a 72 RX2 for a sale ......with a 300 hp n/a 13B in it. Talk about a sleeper His shop is RX4 Your 7. Very smart guy, does the most beautiful porting I've EVER seen, a true "arteest". Former racer.

I agree that a little won't hurt, that's why I would use a "stepped" method. Since we are probably talking about parts per million in order to satisfy the "sniffer".

Hey, what's a mole, anyway????? Never could quite grasp that concept - and does a photon have mass?

Now I'm WAY out of my league.

Now, to be TOTALLY off topic,

A mole is 6.022 x 10^23 molecules of whatever compound you are talking about. A molecular weight of a compound is given in grams per mole. Methanol has a molecular weight of about 32 g/mol.

When I wrote MeOH, thats kind of like writing the chemical formula of methanol. The chemical structure of methanol is CH3OH. CH4 is methane. CH3 is a methyl group, and can be written as Me.

I have to pass too. Maybe I'll put in 4 ounces in the tank after I run the car around town for about 30 min. (to heat up the cat) and then I will put it in. I am pretty much gaurenteed to pass then!

BTW, 1 gallon == 128 floz.

Do you have the results from the first failure to this one?
It may give you an idea if you are making any progress...
Man, that HC reading is high. A brand new set of plugs, fresh oil, a freshly cleaned air cleaner element might help too. This could turn out to be a real biatch to get it to pass. Could any mods since your last pass have had that much effect on emissions?

Go for a pint. If you are not seeing any progress as you progressively up the dosage you might have other issues that can't be fixed by dumping in more and more.

Come to think of it, think I'll go for a pint!
