I'm looking forward to the "big one" coming up - well the most immediate "big one". God I feel like an old fart aroung all you kids. But I have one thing in common - the love of the 7. Awesome car! I've had my mint '95 PEP since March '98 and I have spent a friggin' fortune on repairs, upgrades/mods. Insurance has helped out as well. Just lost my second engine.

I think I'll go single now......T-78? T-66? or GT 35/40???
decisions - decisions.

Never too old to spank Supras.....

I just turned 22 in October, bought my FD for 15.5k this past may bone stock, garage kept and in perfect condition except the fact that it was never revved past 4500rpm, DOH ! Paid for it myself in cash so I have no payments. I owned a 95 Supra w/SP57 and the works for the 2-1/2 years prior to the RX-7. The 6 weeks I had the Rx-7 before the apex went were great and I love it way more than I ever did the Supra. It's truely a drivers car. Since the motor went i have been going all out. Stage 2 Reman, full 99 spec exterior/paint, almost there on all the Spirit R stuff and probably getting my T04r setup and all the trimmings in the next couple of months.

my daily driver is a 99 Ford Ranger so I'm taking my time doing the rex up right.

RX7 is paid off
Ranger has a few small payments left
I bartend and work on cars, and will own my own shop by 26 if all goes well. My girlfriend gets done college this year so once we start getting everything planned out is when I'll start getting to my own buisness I need 6 more credits for my degree that I'm getting finished this upcoming semester. She is going for her Dr. so I'll pretty much go wherever she finds her job.

Heck, why not -

-25 years old
-I've owned my FD since June, paid 10,600 for it
-I've put ~800 into it (shocks/springs/misc) and I don't plan to touch the car! (no, really...)
-My other car is a blown mustang with a blown engine (boost sucks... heh..)
-I'm a MechE as well and I work for Garrett

I'm 22, and I got my FD when I was 19. My 7 is in the middle of a paint job and a single turbo upgrade right now. After that is all over with, I would have put in a little over 20k in the car. At least for now….

27, aspiring FD owner, just haven't put it all together to buy one yet, so I spend spare time here learning what to do and what not to do with the car.

I'm a Sr. Information Tech Specialist for the federal government.

20, still in college, CS major. Doing random internships for most of the year to earn money to buy an FD... Been lurking here for quite some time learning as much as I can before taking the plunge and getting another money pit.

I need to find out what these kids that claim spending 20-30k on their car at 17 do for a living... I made good money bartending but i never had 30-40k to throw away at that age...

I'd like to know that too. I think most of them have over indulgent, not too bright parents.

I'm 18, going to be 19 in July. I currently work for Orange County Public Schools as a Technology Coordinator, maintaining networks and configuring workstations and software. I will be attending college this fall for automechanical/electrical engineering, I previously enrolled in college but didnt make an honest attempt. (My fault)

I just purchased my FD and love it, I have spent about 14k for the car and will probably spend much more once she is paid off. Right now all I am focusing on is reliability mods and monitoring tools (Gauges) to assure nothing goes wrong in my journies. lol

Just to add to the comments, I agree, rich parents throwing fast cars at their kids is a bad idea, unless the child is very responsible. (I've known one person who was and deserved the car they recieved) My first car was a 88' Ford Tempo 4banger that my dad paid 80% of for me when I was 17. My second car was a 96' Thunderbird V8 I bought 6 months later with my own money, at the time I was a manager for Winn-Dixie. After taking my new position I sold the Thunderbird and purchased the FD, also on my own.

When I have kids and its time for them to have cars, they will be NICE cars but they wont be fast... not until they are proven responsible anyways. I also pay my own insurance and gas, but I dont neccassarely find it wrong for the parents to help their kids if they are of the financial standing to do so... and ofcourse saying their kids arent spoiled-little shitasses.

JaNusSolSumnus, you sound wise beyond your years I wish more 18 year olds had your attitude and maturity. I came close to buying an FD when I was 22, but decided instead to buy a new Toyota Tacoma. My reasons were the need for a reliable vehicle, and the fact that I took a long hard look at myself and decided that I just wasn't mature enough to own a high performance sports car yet. I'm so glad I decided to wait, because I'm sure that if I had bought the car then, I'd be dead now.
