sorry, original miles. I dont have much info, only what's gathered from the ebay site. the car is likely stock though the brake calibers are painted or chromed from the pictures. Maybe nonstock exhaust also. bill

I'd want to see it first and drive it too, then I'd pay blue book for it if it's everything they say it is. For a '95 car to have 6K miles on the original engine, that's less than 700 miles per YEAR, which makes me VERY skeptical.
If it has painted calipers and especially nonstock exhaust, there's a very real possibility that's NOT the original motor.
Good luck,

WTF has painted calipers and exhaust have to do with anything???
The ONLY reason I would buy that car is because of the perfect body and interior. Who knows whats wrong with the engine from not being driven.

Brake calipers look painted; exhaust looks stock. Don't know why it has Continental tires on it (aren't Bridgestone OEM?). However, if the mileage is legit, and there are no mechanical issues with the car, it's worth at least ~$25K.

To me, painted calipers and non-stock exhaust screams teenage owner. . My friend works at a dealer, they take some pretty messed up cars for trade-ins. Most somewhat-responsible enthusiasts would put the car back to stock before trading or selling, no reason to give the dealer your aftermarket parts
If it's the car that SpeedKing linked, looks good, I would still want to drive it first though. www.kbb.com says about $21,000 , and I don't think that takes the enthusiast market into account. There are people who would pay more than that.

Use your head for a second here....
Low Miles = Warranty available
Even if the engine pops next week, he will still have the luxury of having an FD with a fairly new body, and it must still smell like new, too.

Tires would have been rotted out and replaced by now.
Does sound suspect. Car would be worth more totally stock. Before paying a bunch I would want to know where the car has been. A car like that would be a long term collector car to keep stock. I would return it to stock if I were buying it.
I was looking at a 95 PEP silver a year ago. The price I would have been willing to pay was about $23k he was asking 30k to start and came down to $25.5k. THis car had only 9000 miles. Clear history and totally stock. Stating the obvious, a car is worth what a willing buyer will pay.
Edit: Yes good points Flyby. Lets see a 6k fd or one that has been tracked for 10 years with 100k.

Did you guys even check the build date?
12/95
This was destined to be a 96 before Mazda pulled the plug. It probably didn't get here till the begining of 96. Since there are NO official 96 US FDs, they called these models left over 95s. Meaing it probably didn't get sold till early 96-mid 96.

Hey cpa7man, honestly, I'd rather buy it from someone that tracked the car as opposed to some yuppy that put 100k miles on it. You KNOW the track guy would keep up with maintanance. That yuppy would end up changing the oil only when his little red oil lite turns on...

Jeff Haas has had that car for years, probably since brand new. It is legit. It would be really nice to get a car with that clean of a body/paint/interior.
As far as warranties go, I still have one that's active....and it covers everything. I did buy it slightly over 2 years ago (3 yr/36k miles) and it has more than paid for itself.

The factory warranty is long expired. A year or 2 ago it was easier to get a warrany on a 94 or 95 FD that'll last right about as long as you said...3 yrs/36k miles. But your car had to be less than 9 years old and under 100K miles (few allow more mileage than that). So having one last this long isn't the problem... it's STARTING one this late into the game that is.

I know that car. It is about 8 miles from me.
That is the personal car of Jeff Haas. Every month or so it is started and moved.
That car had 5900 or so miles on it in April/May of 02. I was looking to get a 7, and figured why not try the local dealers? So I called, they said they had one and I went over. I wasn't interested, because I wanted a black R2.
It is a Silver PEP, I think with black leather, and sunroof. I forget what else. Back then, he wanted 29K for it.
Last I heard, 35.
The problem with a car like this is the uniqueness. If you want to maintain best value, drive it very little and keep it stock.
If you are really curious, ask and I will go take some pictures for you.
FYI, I found my 94 Black R2, with 8K miles, and paid 29K for it in 5/02.
