How much would it cost to rebuild a 3rd gen rotary engine?
Hello,
I am thinking about buying an RX7 (94 twin turbo). I enjoy working on cars so I am looking for one that has a bad engine. I was wondering if anyone from this forum has ever rebuilt their own rotary and would have a ball park figure of how much it would cost? I recently rebuilt the V6 in my Fiero and it came out to about $2,000 with the machine work. Would a rotary engine be about the same?
Is it hard to get parts for these engines? How long would a rebuilt one last?
Are there any major downsides to 3rd gen RX7s that I should know about when shoping for one?
Thanks,
-Charlie

have a look at www.mazdatrix.com read the rebuilt engines page, if you build it yourself the stuff that needs to be done are the same. and if you built a feiro motor a rotary engine rebuild should be like sitting on the couch drinking beer
