currently putting somewhere in the neighborhood of 15k into my car at this time...new motor and lots of other goodies...plus about 3.5 k before...Still a lot cheaper than buying anything new and better than anything else out there at that cost!

This might be some kind of record for a 90 day period. That's $233 per day.

Lets see, I never really tried to total this (probably cause I would cry). Paint job, harnesses, shift and E brake boots, floor mats, water leak=4K+, reliability mods and oil pan leak when purchased--1K, greddy front mount, power fc and commander, udrive pulley, greddy bov, ACT clutch, comp flywheel, fuel pump, antidetonation device, tokikos all the way around, Xdrilled slotted rotors, short shift kit, boost gauge, af meter, fan mod and I think I might be missing a couple things. Thats about 10K there. I guess I have put in 15K so far. Did I mention my chrome rims are so ******* pitted and nasty that rims are needed very soon and my primary turbo is boosting but it is not spinning unless under actual boost, so a new turbo set up is going to be needed (I am not sure where I am going with that-rebuilt, 99+ or a nonsequential setup, I know it won't be a single), but the car demands several thousand dollars in the immediate future regardless.

Someone should repost this subject with a broader range of poll options, its kinda useless as is, with 60% being in the highest range.

I've had my car almost a year and my main expenses are below. That and a new stage 3 clutch was about $1,000 over this past year. I do my own maintenance. However I've spent $6,800 on various parts for my 20b conversion and all I need is a ecu and flywheel.

I think its people like us that are responsible for the economic recovery...not the tax cuts ;*)

We're performing a public service! I think owning an FD should be a write off.

I'm in the middle of a motor rebuild and suspension reform. My motor's not back yet, but including the rebuild and porting price, I'll have no less than $15,000 invested in my car which is the price I bought it for a year and a half ago. I probably have more if I pulled out all my receipts for parts from the Mazda dealership, but it wouldn't make sense to claim pride for $200 worth of factory spec studs and bolts, etc. Or for the $150 towing bill from my coolant system explosion last summer for that matter. That number doesn't include the set of tires I just bought or oil changes.

The real killers were the $1,300 I spent for parts and labor on a clutch/flywheel job, going v-mount, stand-alone, and full intake exhaust at the same time, and this latest project. Over the past 3 months, I've put over $2,000 in the suspension alone. I didn't even get coilovers. The motor project includes a fuel system too, so that's another $2,700 or so. Big projects at once. Its a good thing my dad doesn't realize how much I've put into it, or else he'd probably have me paying for tuition and not just the car.

i've spent ~$8k in the last 2 months. included: new engine w/ new coolant and fuel lines and other misc stuff, viton vacuum hoses, downpipe, catback, 4xslotted rotors and pads and stainless steel brake lines, new tires, and replacement of 8 rear suspension bushings. no more until next year... heh.

I stopped counting at about 10-12k. It's now been two years since I last drove my car when it ran correctly

And if you count the Subaru Legacy I just bought so I can get around while the rex is in the shop, add another 10k....

Soon as it's up and running, it's going up for sale!
