That depends on the water used in the cooling system. Tap water is more corrosive than filtered or distilled water. I've never lost a rotary due to coolant seal failer.

No because granny driving the car creates more carbon buildup. This will eventually lowering your compression because the internal seals will start to stick. Ever hear of carbon lock? I've experienced it.

yeah it's true that sometimes when you get the car, it might be 3rd hand, just like mine. it's 4th hand.

but in between someone replaced with another engine. and i have no idea what's the exact millage because if the guy did not change the speedo meter, it will still show the 1st engine.

mine was a 92 model from JApan. some expert was saying that my engine is a 96 engine which has 265 bhp on it stock.

yes it's stock until now and i'm suspecting my seals either the turbo seals or coolant seals. i'm counting my days....

Listen to this guy. Start saving and rebuild before it actually goes.

My engine went at 108k and there were no prior signs of it going out on me (well maybe if had done a compression check). One summer afternoon I stopped at the store. Came back in, tried to start the car and I just heard this god awful noise. Grinding bolts is the best that I can describe it, engine seized. I was lucky on the way my engine went since I only had to get one housing. If I would had blown a seal while driving, there would have been a high possibility that the apex seal(s) would had been sucked into the turbos. That scenario = $$$$.
