canman how much does it cost for these pulleys from greddy? and whats a good aftermarket alternator? I need the price it doesnt have to be exchanged to canadian for I can do that my self. I know of a place that can get greddy stuff here in Canada.

The pulley kit goes for about $120 US... A good aftermarket alternator? why? If you need a better alternator, I dont know why you would but you can
have your alternator overhauled and chromed in the
states... I dont know where, but I know its readily available

I had a guy tell me I could get 20 hp from the Greddy underdrive pulley kit. Could this be at all possible? And what would the cost be? And what is the advantage of a aftermarket alternator?

20 hp from an underdrive pulley that sounds like a lot to me, I would think 10-15 Plus I didnt know greddy made that... Underdrive pulleys usually go for around $250 I think... I dont of any advantages of an aftermarket alternator, unless you run some mad speakers in your car.... I would think about it if I had an underdrive pulley since, those slow down your power to your accesories..

LOL. where would i place the vinyl? do i have to get the small ones that ricers print from their home computers?
Honestly though, i personally know a guy with the power pulley set, and when he dyno'ed his car, it only made 7 more hp. im not sure if the hp is more at higher HP levels though (his was somewhere around 260-300)

I seriously doubt if it unleashes any hidden HP. Use for it is to enlarge the water pump and alternator pulley to make up for the loss of contact surface from removing the air pump. Plus the water pumnp pulley has ruffles on the edges and doesn't slip as easily as stock. I've seen stock slip rather easily with just a little water.

How much horsepower? Sorry, but little to none. I doubt you'd see much difference at the rear wheels.
Unless you're eliminating accessories at the same time, underdrive pulleys really don't free up much, if any, horsepower. Reducing the number of accesories that the engine has to drive frees up power. The air pump, power steering pump, and the A/C pump all take power to drive, commonly called parasitic loss... get rid of 'em.
What the underdrive pulleys really do is what the name implies... underdrive, or turn at a reduced rate, the accessories on which they are installed. Specifically, the main (and pretty much only) benefit of the GReddy underdrive pulley kit is underdriving the water pump.
The only scenario in which this is really useful is if you use the car for track events and the engine is at high rpm for long periods of time. Underdriving the water pump under those conditions helps prevent cavitation. Cavitation can introduce air bubbles into the coolant, and air bubbles trapped in the cooling passages of the engine can cause hot spots to develop. Hot spots, of course, can lead to pre-ignition (detonation) and that can lead to engine damage.
Should you not use underdrive pulleys if you don't use your car for track events? By all means, install them if you want, but be aware that the gains are very small for a street driven car, both from a horsepower and functional point of view. And furthermore, it may reduce the output of your alternator.

When I put my Greddy pulley kit on($120), AND removed my A/C & P/S, the horsepower gain was BARELY felt. It feels better normal driving, but overall I couldn't really tell the difference.
But any horsepower will do IMO!

Oh crap! I just put up monster Oakley windshield stickers. I was told they were good for 20hp each!
