My wife bitched when I got my seats ($$$ to the FD not her). Now she's glad I did! " Honey, can you get the kids after work"

Well I just found out that I'm having a baby. 1) I don't see how the wimpy rear strut tower bar helps side impact that much. 2). Do you have to remove the rear strut bar to put in the seats? 3). Does a baby seat fit in them? 4) How much do you have to hack the center console to fit in the seats?

I may have to get a family car now (in addition to the FD - not selling it just because we're having a family)

Damn it, the RX-8 won't be coming out till late summer??

1. You can keep the rear strut tower
2. You can keep the rear strut tower
3. You can fit the baby seat. My cousin has one in his rex
4. You can fit the lip of the seat under the console

When you purchase seats make sure you also get the rear seatbelts, panels and all the bolts.

Lemme now if you need me to point you in the right direction for the seats.

That is my car in the pic. It isn't a hack job 5150, it wasn't all the way finished. If you look closely, the seats actually fit perfectly. The center console wasn't in yet. The rear seats fit perfectly. The rear strut brace stays.

There is NO WAY I can see that you are going to get the center console to fit without cutting it. I tried it and I couldn't get it to work. I'd like to see pics if you could post them. I bought an extra, pulled the vinyl back, cut the plastic and wrapped the vinyl over it. Looks factory.

I have the rear seats because I think it a novelty, I've stuffed a friend or two back there for a short trip to lunch.

I have a 2.5 yr old daughter, the extra seats work for her. There is no way I'd take her in the car all the time, it is for fun and emergencies only. 95 Maxima is the family car and I have an extended cab full size truck for family duty.

that recaro seat is a booster, for 40 lbs and up, forward facing only... not for babies. it is also available in the well known red/black recaro pattern. but it does fit in recaros and narrow seats like the stock fd front seats. they also cost $600 retail. please dont ask me how i know this!

if you have no passenger airbag, or you disable your 94-95 passenger airbag, you can just throw any car seat in the front pax seat. you need a rear-facing seat until your baby is 12 months/20 pounds i believe.

It almost sounds like you've worked in a baby store... hmm, but what kind of gay FD owner would work in a baby store. Nice seat.

Here are 2 photos of my rear seats. I forgot that I had the seats over the console instead of under it.

I remember I didn't want the console to cut into the seats, incase I sold them and
didn't want to cut the console, if I went back to the storage bins.

Congratulations Rotary-tt

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! Feeling a little overwhelmed right now. An awful lot to think about being someone's father.

Good pics. I never really liked the storage bins. Sure my owners and shop manual fit, a flashlight and first aid kit, but they almost never get used. The only time they get used is to store a pocketbook or something small from the store. Put anything else big back there and it will slide around and break something. It would be nice to put a bag or briefcase back there without always having to open the trunk.

I like the idea of not cutting the seats or console. That way I can put it back in case I ever sell it and they want it a 2-seater.

Anyone have a pic of the rear seats with a baby seat? I know most of you think this is sacrilege to make the FD 4 seats but sometimes life necessitates changes. My father had to sell his sports car once he had a family. I'd like to keep mine.

Help me keep my FD Someone must have a pic with a baby seat. I know few of you are in the hot seat like me, but I don't want to trade one baby for the other

Hey .. my car has back seats and I managed to fit 5 girls into my car one night...it's great for bar hopping etc but not much use other than keeping a few bottles upright ( water, coolant, oil)... it's nice to have. On average, it comes in quite handy at times. I don't like to take two people in the back..but one on the passenger side is cool. My car also has the rear strut tower brace as well.. the seats should bolt in to a US FD quite easily.

Only JDM cars came with the 2+2 Back seat options. I have actually NEVER seen an FD without back seats..they all seem to have them.. so I would tend to believe that they didn't come with cargo covers like yours do in the US of A.

Excellent call. The 911 turbo has 2+2 seating, the back seats are removed in a GT2. Not that they were functional to begin with anyway, but they were there.
