How many run left and right air deflector tabs?
Hey guys,
In my interest of improving airflow into the "mouth" of the car, I was just wondering how many of you still have the stock "tabs" on the left and right side of the opening or mouth of the FD that are used to deflect or direct airflow into the radiator/condensor assembly? Will removing them help or hurt my cooling performance?
Thanks

Why would you want to remove them?

I had heard that some people remove them to increase the frontal area, hence more airflow (in theory). Just wanted feedback from people who've tried it and had either success, failure, or no noticeable difference in performance.

Yes, I'm currently working on sealing up every little nook and cranny on each side of the rad/condensor where air could escape. I've heard that helps tremendously. Also, I'm going to replace the foam strip towards the back of the splash pan that normally seals the back of the radiator. My foam piece is old and smashed so you can see a pretty large gap between the foam strip and the radiator. We'll see how much it helps.

i did this recently as well.....then i used some foam shielding to direct all the air into the 'mouth'.
i think it works pretty good....i've had no trouble so far staying cool in 70 deg ambient temp so far (ask me again in the middle of summer), and it even takes a little while to get fully warmed up.

I removed those last year and in Phoenix heat of up to 120 there was no difference in operating temps. I can say with confidence that they do absolutely nothing, even if they did have an "intended" purpose.
edit: Hi Tim, I just noticed it was you after posting
