how does a faulty oil filter gasket reduce power

i have found that my oil leak is coming from the oil filter housing. i was told by my mechanic friend that could rob me of power and pressure loss. either way im going to fix it...duh so i can get rid of my oil leak. oh yeah also he seemed to fix my a/c...another post

It would have to be a very significant leak ("like dangerous to run your car it is losing oil so quickly" leak) to rob you of power or create a significant pressure loss. Even if very small, I would still fix it though...got to keep the engine and bay clean.

Only loss of power I can think of would be your foot slipping from the gas pedal after stepping in puddle of oil under you car before getting in
