How do I get out of "limp mode?"
I pulled the codes on my car, and got 27 (OMP) and 40 (Purge control solenoid).
I'm guessing the OMP code may be putting my car into limp mode. I premix so the OMP is not a big deal, but being in limp mode is. My car is basically stock.
I've searched all of the OMP elimination threads. I see how to physically remove the OMP, but my immediate concern is how can I get the car to stop looking for the OMP? Can I leave the OMP in physically, but disconnect it and make the ECU act as if it weren't there, or is running fine? What do those with the OMP eliminated do? Or does this only work with an aftermarket ECU?
Thanks.

Since the OMP is rpm and load dependent, I think it would be very difficult/more trouble than it's worth to "fool" the stock ECU.
Your choices are:
1. Replace the OMP (used OMPs aren't expensive). Look for a how-to thread under my name.
2. Purchase a standalone like the PFC that doesn't care if the OMP is there and replace the stock ECU

The OMP is a stepper valve (like the idle valve in some other cars) with a position sensor for feedback to verify the valve went to the intended position. The ECU could be checking to see that the position sensor works, or that the 4 stepper valve wires are connected properly.
The stock ECU will never stop looking for the OMP, and I'm not aware of any reflash to change this behavior in the stock ECU. The only way to eliminate the code is to connect an OMP with a functioning stepper valve and position sensor. The stock ECU has no way of checking that the OMP is actually delivering oil or mounted to the engine, so it would be possible to mount a 'dummy' OMP somewhere else in the engine bay, or block the oil feed so the OMP is not actually delivering oil to the engine.
Someone wrote a very in-depth thread about the OMP , I think it was titled 'OMP declassified part 1' or something like that.
