I have an R2 and they usually come without: sunroof, cruise controll, bose system, looks to see if you have duel oil coolers in the front, you should have suede seats but the original owner of mine got leather instead. You will have a rear spoiler and an enlarged front lip spoiler almost like it's scooping up something. Should aslo have a anti sway bar when you open up the hood. Stiffer suspension but you really wont know unless you have driven a non-R model. I know I'am missing maybe 1 other thing but thats all I can think of. By the way the duel oil coolers will let you know really what model it is right off the back!!!

there is one that is visible from that little opening in the left front of the car is the other one where a front mount intercooler would go.

If its an R1/R2 it should have 2 oil coolers. one in the little opening on the drivers side, and on in the little opening on the passenger side. The big opening in the middle is where the front mount intercoooler would go.

no the other one should be the other oil cooler. if it only has 1 then it is not a r2.

don't know what the huge one in the middle is. Either it is the radiator, or you already have a FMIC. Unless it has the second oil cooler its not an R1/R2

Adrian: is yours an Auto? the only other thing that i can think of it being is the a/c. They did not change the location of the oil coolers for any of the years. 1 on the drivers side=not R1/R2 ....1 on drivers side 1 on passenger side exact opposite of drivers side=R1/R2

That sounds right. The biggest thing is the twin oil coolers.

No, the two things you should see beneath (in front of) your radiator are the large, silver air conditioning heat exchanger and the hard lines of the power steering fluid cooling loop.

If you have a black plastic cover over the side opening on the passenger's side where the second oil cooler would be located (or a sunroof, rear wiper, cruise control, fog lights, or any of the other features that R2 models didn't have) then you don't have an R2.
