Maybe I should raise my prices!

High Temp,
Keep us posted. At $243, I am definitely interested. I've had McM silicone hoses sitting around for over a year, now, but I never used them because I was looking for something better.

Ok this is what I have done. I have taken some of our blue silicone and made some templates using autocad. I know this is pretty low tech, but give me a break. I only have one working hand right do to a shattered wrist.
Sample 3.5MM x .105" wall 65 duro platinum silicone
Picture 1- R.875. No kink present in sample
Picture 2- R.625 No kink present in sample
Picture 3 R.500 no kink present in sample
Now here is the good news. Because Viton is a stiffer material (yes you can increase stiffness without increasing durometer) the chances of Viton kinking on these same Radii are slim to none.

If the .105" wall thickness is what's in the current Silicone hose kits, then I wouldn't hesistate to use the same sizes in Viton.
Count me in on the first production run if it gets going. Unfortunately I don't think many people are aware of this thread yet.

Just thought I needed to point this out and show what I have done.
Obvious OIl can get into your intake by leaky turbos or oil filler neck vent. Once there it can get in your hoses. So some people use viton rather silicon because it offers better oil resitance.
Not Obvious If you study the vacuum hose diagram you will see that most hoses only see vacuum and will never see contaminated air. It does not really make any sense to viton over silicon for most hoses.
Result A Hybrid hose job.(sorry, I didn't take any pictures until after I put the rats nest back in.)
About 2/3 of the small diameter hose used was silicon. A big cost savings over an all Viton setup.

Well that brings up an interesting point. If some of these lines never see oil or fuel vapor, silicone is 100% acceptable. I do not have enough information about the layout to decide/decifer which hoses will or will not see oil or fuel vapor.
Based on this new info I would be able to offer:
100% Platinum silicone vacuum hose kits.
100% Viton vacuum hose kits
Hybrid vacuum hose kit that has Viton AND colored silicone.
Now its up to everybody else to tell me what lines will see ANY oil or fuel vapor or liquid.

Right now there are 7 people interested in the 100% Viton kit. If I get to 10 I will order the raw materials and make 10 kis for $276.44/ea. If/when we get to 40 kits, a refund of $33.56 + actual cost of shipping will be credited back to paypal accounts of those that were on the original buy list.
10 kits @ $276.44/ea
20 kits @ $262.61/ea
40 kits @ $242.89/ea
75 kits @ $230.15/ea
100 kits @ $217.41/ea
I talked to some shops this morning. They said they would offer the kit only if they could double their investment. Therefore if I sold 100 kits to a shop, the retail would be around $450.00 which in my own opinion wouldnt fly.
The leadtime will be around 3-4 weeks for me to get the raw materials here, extrude the Viton, cut to length and package.

flunkysama: interesting arrangement.
HiTemp: I myself would still buy the all viton. Since you're coming in at a much lower price point than the previous viton sources, I'll keep it simple and pay a little more for all viton.

Even if a particular line normally sees only vacuum, each time the intake pressure/vacuum fluctuates and the line is opened to the vacuum source (the intake) there is the potential for fuel/oil-contaminated air to enter that line. Therefore, I would prefer all Viton, and be willing to pay a bit more for that.

Not being an engineer, or having any replacement experience thus far with any of these materials I defer to the more experienced/knowledgeable in this group.
A price of $250 will not break my bank and since these prices sound reasonable. I would join in on the buy.
My only question (at this time) would be... what remedy would we the buyers have if during the install - or after - problems occurred with the Viton?

Well, I dont know how to answer that. I can provide supporting documentation that Viton is the best material to use in a oil/grease/fuel environment.
Here is a PDF file about Viton:
http://www.dupont-dow.com/literature...a28004da13.pdf
That will describe the capabilities of the material and why it is so widley used in this application.

Water hoses aren't part of viton or silicone tubing kits.
The kit would consist of:
40' 3.5MM x .105" wall
15' 4.0MM x .105" wall
16' 6.0MM x .105" wall
4' 8.0MM x .115" wal

I am confident enough to give this product a warranty. I offer it on our silicone vacuum hose kits and there is nothing better for fuel/oil use than Viton.
Therefore the warranty is as follows:
"High Temp Silicone Viton hose kits are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship. Any defective products found to carry such defects will be replaced without charge, at our discretion, for 3 years. This warranty is only limited to replacement of High Temp Silicone products, item for item. High Temp Silicone specifically disclaims any other liability. High Temp Silicone will not warranty any Viton hose that has been damaged due to improper installation techniques.
In the above paragraph "defect" is defined as swelling and/or splitting due to temperature and excessive oil and fuel contact"
I have been making Viton for 14 years. I have sold it to the U.S. Government and Aerospace industry in this time with zero complaints from contact with oil/fuel and temperature cracking.

Ray@Mallory says that they do not sell a pre-molded kit.
JohnChabin:
Can you tell me which dealer said that? Do you know what the cost is?

probably just pre-cut to length and numbered for location. Its possible but labor goes up with stuff like that. My thoughts are that you guys would rather do it yourself, than me pay a guy $17.00/hr to cut viton kits. Keep the money where it was earned, in you pocket!
